Student answer (Band 4.5)

Yes, it is true that some people say that in the digital age but, others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.

To begin with, both are valid in own way but i take the side of cinemas are still important in both economically and culturally. Cinemas is playing a big role in country economic and it can build a large number of gdp and for example: if a people go to watch movies in theatres it can grow more employment oppournities and peoples can earn some money. The theatres will also grow accordingly and it can grow country economic side.

Further more, differents kind of peoples can enjoy in theatres and can add their reviews and it can be more advanced but some people still argue and say this digital age people are no longer important and can watch online. while talking about online all kinds of cinemas are not found in websites to. they need to have exclusive subscriptions and it can be more expensive for them. while, watching in internet we mostly go through different ads and low quality video but in theatres it does not have any ads and it can bound the cultural and traditions things too. people can make plan and they can have fun in theatres while in digital age, all you have to seat alone and watch alone. In conslusion, i mostly say we should always go to theatres and make plans to go with friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear preference for cinemas, and you offer relevant economic points, such as employment and income, alongside cultural and social benefits like making plans with friends. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the online-entertainment argument receives only brief treatment: subscriptions, advertisements and video quality are mentioned, but the advantages of watching at home are not explained. Several claims, including that cinemas increase GDP and preserve culture, need clearer explanation or a specific example. The response is also 228 words, below the 250-word minimum; the 21 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop both sides more fully and support your position with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic overall shape: an opening, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “In conclusion” signal stages in the argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several points are joined together without clear relationships. For example, the second body paragraph moves from reviews to subscriptions, advertisements, culture and socialising in quick succession. Connectors such as “while” are repeated and sometimes do not clearly show a contrast, while “Further more” introduces a point without a clear link to the previous one. Use one main idea per paragraph, order supporting details logically, and make references and contrasts explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “employment opportunities,” “exclusive subscriptions,” “reviews” and “cultural,” which helps communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make ideas less clear, such as “build a large number of gdp,” “country economic side” and “bound the cultural and traditions things.” Spelling errors such as “oppournities,” “differents” and “conslusion” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise collocations and check word forms and spelling. For instance, describe cinemas as “contributing to GDP” and say that they “support cultural traditions,” rather than translating these ideas word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example, “if a people go to watch movies in theatres it can grow more employment oppournities.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction and punctuation often make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “Cinemas is playing,” “both are valid in own way,” and the run-on construction beginning “Further more, differents kind of peoples.” Capitalisation of “I” and sentence openings is also inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and divide long sentences into shorter, complete units. More reliable control of these basic patterns would make your ideas clearer.
