Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the two broad positions—online streaming may reduce cinema attendance, while cinemas remain economically and culturally important—and state your own view with “I believe” that people still go to theatres. However, the response does not develop either side: the streaming point is only begun, and there are no reasons, examples, or explanation of the economic and cultural claims. Your opinion is also not made sufficiently clear or supported. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, so the task is addressed only minimally. To improve, discuss each view in a separate developed paragraph, explain your position, and support the points with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the discussion: the opening introduces the contrasting views, and “on the one hand” signals the start of a supporting point. This gives the reader some indication of direction. However, the response ends during that point, so there is no completed discussion, contrasting paragraph, or conclusion to create an overall progression. The opening sentence also joins several ideas together without clear punctuation, making the relationships between them difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each view, and your opinion, and connect complete ideas with clear transitions such as “In contrast” and “Overall.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “significance,” “economical growth,” “culture,” and “movie streaming platforms,” and the references to Netflix and Amazon Prime make the subject clear. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent enough to distract the reader, as in “incontemprory,” “thechnology,” “avaiblity,” and “internate.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “economical growth” is not the natural phrase for the intended point, and “replacing” is left without a clear object or completion. Check spelling carefully and learn common topic collocations so your ideas can be expressed more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a complex opening sentence that contrasts two views and adds your opinion, showing some willingness to use more than simple sentence patterns. However, control is limited: the sentence runs several clauses together without appropriate punctuation, and forms such as “some people think” followed by “some peoples believe” show inconsistent plural and agreement. “People still going” also lacks the auxiliary verb needed for a continuous form, while “people started replacing” is incomplete. These errors make parts of the message difficult to follow. Practise writing complete sentences with clear clause boundaries, and check subject–verb agreement and verb forms before submitting.
