Student answer (Band 5.5)
i think, the rise of digital era has made things very easy for the people around the globe. There is no doubt that anyone can watch all the entertainment while sitting in their comfort zone at home, wether its a cricket match, a movie, any ufc main event or a basketball match for instance. People who dont like to stand in line for buying tickets or burn their fuel just to reach a theater or dont like to get stuck in rush often make great use of digital entertainment platforms like netflix and amazon prime etc. you can watch anything you desire of with just a click.
On the other hand, people who like socializing love to go to theater to watch the latest movie or show along with their partners or friends. If we look back about 20 years before the smart Tvs or phone came out, theaters used to be the place where everybody would love to come to socialize. it was almost part of the culture. families, groups and friends would take time out of their busy day just to reach on time for their favourite show.
In my opinion going to theaters nowadays more frequently is something that i would not do. The digital era that we live in now has made everything so easy for us. you can watch any show or event you want, sitting at your home with your dear ones on your smart TV without the hastle of getting in lines just to buy tickets. Keeping in mind the rise in fuel prices, heavy traffic on roads and the hastle of finding good seats so that the picture is clear is not something worth wasting time and money on.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear preference for home-based digital entertainment, especially in the final paragraph, and you give relevant reasons such as avoiding queues, traffic and fuel costs. You also describe the social role cinemas once played. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, including the claim that theatres and cinemas remain important economically and culturally. Your response mainly explains convenience and socialising; it does not develop the economic argument, and the cultural point is limited to a brief reference to the past. The position is therefore only partly supported. To strengthen the response, explain how cinemas support jobs or local businesses and why shared viewing still matters culturally, then compare these points with your own preference for online viewing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: digital convenience is discussed first, the social value of cinemas next, and your opinion is given in the final paragraph. Transitions such as “On the other hand” help signal a change in viewpoint. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose: the first paragraph moves from cricket and films to ticket queues and streaming services without clearly grouping the points, while the final paragraph repeats several reasons already given. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “If we look back about 20 years before…” and “you can watch anything you desire of.” Use clearer topic sentences, organise each paragraph around one main claim, and make references between ideas more precise to create a more consistent line of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of everyday vocabulary for the topic, including “digital entertainment platforms,” “socializing,” “fuel prices,” and “heavy traffic.” These choices make your main points understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are informal, repetitive, or inaccurately formed, which reduces precision. For example, “comfort zone” is not the most natural phrase for watching at home, “hastle” is misspelled and repeated, and “desire of” is an incorrect collocation. “Rush” is also vague in “get stuck in rush.” Aim for more precise, formal wording and check spelling and collocations. For instance, you could describe the convenience of streaming and the communal experience of cinema-going rather than relying on repeated references to ease and hassle.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “People who don’t like to stand in line… often make great use…” and “Keeping in mind the rise in fuel prices… is not something worth…”. This shows an effort to vary sentence structure, and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in sentence boundaries, articles, verb forms and punctuation. Examples include “i think,” “theaters used to be the place,” and the run-on opening sentence listing several forms of entertainment. Capitalisation of “I” and sentence openings is also inconsistent. Practise separating long lists into controlled sentences, and review article use and clause structure. More accurate sentence construction would make your reasoning easier to follow.
