Student answer (Band 6.0)
These days, some individuals believe that shows and cinemas are no longer essential as people can watch all the entertainment they want online from their couch. I partially agree with this statement but i also believe that theatres and cinemas are very important for our culture and economy .
The main reason i partially agree with the first statement is, people these days dont have enough time to go to the theatres to watch a show or to cinema for a film. Especially in metropolitan cities individuals dont get enough time to set with their families. Also, i believe that watching entertainment online is more convenient in contrast to watching movie in cinema. Moreover, online entertainment is much cheaper and accesible as well, these days on many platforms like Netflex everyone has access to almost all the entertainment they want to watch and that too very cheap.
On the other side i do believe that theatres and cinemas have a very good impact on our society, both culturally and economically. one of a benifit of watching show in theatre is we can realate to it because we are watching individual physically performing act and portraying our true culture. Also cinemas and theatres are playing a good role in creating jobs in many ways like the technicians, acting staff, lighting, camera operators all are associated with it, Not even these but other businesses like restaurants in the cinemas are also part of this loop.
In conclusion, many people believe that in the era of internet cinemas and theatres are no longer in need, but i belive they play a very important role in our society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear, qualified position: you “partially agree” that online entertainment is convenient, while maintaining that theatres and cinemas remain important. The points about time, affordability and access respond to the first view, and the cultural and employment benefits address the second. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that live performance helps people relate to their culture would be stronger with a specific example, and the economic point could explain the scale or wider effects of the jobs mentioned. The conclusion restates your view but does not bring the two arguments together. The 10 words copied from the task prompt are excluded from the reported count; the response meets the required length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for the convenience of online entertainment, one for the continuing value of venues, and a conclusion. This makes the main progression easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “On the other side” and “In conclusion” to guide the reader. To make the organisation more fluent, avoid relying on formulaic transitions and connect related points more precisely. For instance, the sequence “Also… Moreover…” lists advantages without showing how they relate, while “Not even these but…” makes the relationship between venue jobs and nearby businesses unclear. Use clearer referencing and transitions, and ensure each paragraph develops its central point in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “metropolitan cities,” “portraying our true culture,” and “creating jobs.” However, the range is limited in places, and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the expression less precise. Examples include “set with their families,” “accesible,” “benifit,” and “realate.” “Shows and cinemas” is also imprecise because the task concerns theatres and cinemas, while “all the entertainment” is repeated. Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help you explain cultural and economic effects without relying on broad expressions such as “a very good impact” and “part of this loop.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “as people can watch…” and a relative clause in “businesses like restaurants… are also part of this loop.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The main reason i partially agree… is, people…” has faulty punctuation and sentence construction; “one of a benifit… is we can…” needs a clearer grammatical pattern; and “individuals dont have enough time” lacks an apostrophe. Capitalisation of “I” is inconsistent, and some articles and sentence boundaries need attention. Practise building accurate complex sentences and proofreading punctuation, articles and verb patterns so that the range you attempt is more consistently controlled.
