Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is to argue that in the modern world, theaters and cinemas are deemed to be less appreciated due to the invention of online streaming platforms. While other believed that traditional entertainment are still economically and culturally valuable. This essay believes that traditional entertainment should be conserve for these theaters creates jobs and many older generation still loves visiting the nearby movie establishments.
In the 21st century, with the rise of internet platforms such as Netflic and Disney+, many movie goers transitioned from traditional entertainment to a more digital approach resulting on cinemas to be less appreciated. This is because streaming online is very convenient to the people and they do not have to drive just to reach the cinema. They deemed the cinema as a whole activity where they need to prepare and dress up in order to watch a single movie. For example, many families in the Philippines, are subscribing to Netflix to watch their favorite movies instead of visiting the cinemas due to traffic when going to the area. However, I believe many people would still want to go to traditional movie theater since they treat it as a family day where they can relax and be with their love ones.
on the other hand, some people believed that traditional theaters should be given importance and be supported by the public. This is because many families are depending in this industry specially those who have made it as an occupation. Cinemas creates a lot of job opportunities in the country, and if these industry shall vanish in to the future, then a tremendous amount of population shall be purged in to poverty. Apart from that, many older adults still wants to watch their favorite films in a traditional setting as it creates a sense of belongingness to them and they also reminice the time where cinemas are a big thing. I believe that we should put importance to these old movie theaters as we are amazed by the new streaming platforms. For example, in the United States of America, many hospice patients are still conducting monthly schedule to watch their favorite action movies in the nearby theater.
In conclusion, It is good that people in the modern world, now have the option to watch films through streaming, but they should not also forget to put value and importance to traditional media platfroms for it is an industry where many depend on both in financially and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear overall position: streaming is convenient, but traditional venues should remain valued for their employment and cultural role. The examples about Filipino families choosing Netflix and older adults’ attachment to cinemas help make the discussion relevant. This meets the task well, though the two sides are not developed equally: the case for online entertainment focuses mainly on convenience and traffic, while the economic and cultural case receives more explanation. Some claims, such as the prediction that cinema closures would push a “tremendous amount” of people into poverty, need qualification or evidence. To strengthen the response further, explain more precisely how cinemas contribute culturally and economically, and connect each example directly to the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate discussion paragraphs and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from the convenience of streaming to the continuing value of cinemas, and examples are placed near the points they support. This gives the essay a coherent overall arrangement. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph shifts from explaining why people choose streaming to asserting that many still want theatres, without clearly signalling the contrast. The second paragraph begins with “on the other hand,” but the relationship to the preceding point could be more explicit. Use paragraph-opening topic sentences that state each side, and make references such as “these industry” and “it” unambiguous. Consistent capitalisation and more controlled transitions would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to discuss the issue, including “online streaming platforms,” “job opportunities,” “traditional setting” and “sense of belongingness.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “a more digital approach.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “Netflic,” “less appreciated,” “purged in to poverty” and “monthly schedule” do not express the intended ideas precisely. Some phrases are also repetitive, particularly “traditional entertainment” and “importance.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate wording, and check spelling carefully. A broader range of precise terms for audience habits, employment and cultural value would help you express the argument more flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “since” and “if,” so there is some variety in structure. The main ideas are usually understandable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “traditional entertainment are” should use a singular verb, while “Cinemas creates” needs a plural verb. In “many older adults still wants,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “should be conserve” has an incorrect verb form. Punctuation also needs attention: “movie. For example” requires a space, and the opening “on the other hand” should begin with a capital letter. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject, correctly formed verb and complete punctuation.
