Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's world, you can watch any type of movie or season within the comfort of your home sitting on your couch and enjoy privately with your friends. Its a blessing to enjoy in your private place with your favourite people, but people also love to go and watch movies in the cinemas. there you can enjoy a movie more realisticly and entertain yourself at maximum level. the theatres and cinemas facing a big challenge in this digital age to survive. they are struggling by providing maximum services like 3D sound and 3D glasses to provide more realistic experience to their customers. Its also their plus point and the biggest reason of their survival. people cannot enjoy realistic experience at their home, on the other hand people compromise on their privacy in the cinemas. i have seen alot of scandles such as a couple kissing or hugging during a romantic movie which is obviously too disgusting and shameful act for others in the public area. sometimes security team leaks their clips on the social media and everyone makes fun of them. If you are at home with your wife watching a romantic movie, you can enjoy the movie and romance with her maintaining full privacy. another big aspect is that you can't watch movie of your choice in the cinema, there is a limited schedule of movies you can watch, But you can watch movie of your choice at home. In my opinion, its better to watch at home, because you have freedom. freedom means freedom of choice, freedom of privacy and people you want to enjoy with, freedom of enjoyment according to your taste, which you dont have at the cinema. And the biggest reason is that now a days technology is now so much evolved that you can build mini cinema room in your home with cinema level quality of the sound as well as the video itself. i would definitely prefer watch all entertainment at home because its all your choice.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear preference for watching at home, especially in the final section, and you offer relevant reasons such as privacy, choice of films and improved home technology. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the case for cinemas is only briefly mentioned through their more realistic experience and 3D facilities. The economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not addressed, so the response covers the task only partially. Several points supporting your own view repeat the idea of freedom rather than being developed with examples or explanation. To strengthen the response, explain the opposing view more fully, including cinemas’ contribution to jobs or shared cultural experiences, then support your position with a balanced comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable movement from home viewing to cinemas and then to your own preference, and phrases such as “on the other hand” and “In my opinion” help signal shifts. However, the ideas are presented as one long paragraph, so the reader has little visual guidance and the overall progression is difficult to follow. Connections between points are sometimes abrupt: the discussion moves from 3D facilities to privacy concerns and then to security staff leaking clips without clearly showing how each point supports the comparison. Repetition of “freedom” also weakens progression. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and make each paragraph develop one main idea with clear, accurate links between supporting points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “privacy,” “limited schedule,” “3D glasses,” and “cinema level quality,” which helps communicate your main points. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “enjoy” and “freedom” appearing repeatedly. Some word choices and collocations are awkward, including “enjoy privately,” “at maximum level,” and “more realisticly”; spelling errors such as “scandles” and “alot” are also noticeable. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the general argument, but they make the writing less natural and can cause some difficulty. Build a more varied set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “If you are at home with your wife watching a romantic movie, you can enjoy the movie and romance with her.” However, the range is limited, and many sentences contain frequent errors in sentence boundaries, capitalisation and punctuation. Examples include “friends. Its,” the lowercase sentence opening “there,” and the run-on sequence beginning “In my opinion, its better to watch at home.” There are also faulty constructions, such as “prefer watch” and “the theatres and cinemas facing a big challenge.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to identify where one idea ends and another begins. Practise accurate sentence boundaries and basic verb patterns, then proofread for capitals, apostrophes and full stops.
