Student answer (Band 5.5)
some individuals state that in digital age , theaters and cinemas are are no longer important as people watch everything on internet. while on the other side argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. i believe that the need for cinamas and theater is not as much as it was in past but there are few factors which which also support the other argument.
Cinemas and theaters are not important like it was in past. because nowadays most of the people use internet alot. And there alot of platform which provides the movies and shows online in their home which was not available a few decades ago. i strongly believes that the need for these is like the way it was 90s and most of people nowadys don't have time to go theater and watch the movie there. in the past people go to theaters go get away from the hardships of life and to get a escape from hardships. but today its vary different everything is available online anr people can watch everything online and get an escape from reality. for example. platforms like netflix , youtube and amazon prime. offer a large amount of movie and videos which everyone can watch in their free time.
while on the other side people also believe that its important economically and culturally which is also true on some extent because cinema is part of the culture luke bollywood and hollywood. and it also get alot of help in economy. because most of the movies earns 10 times and sometimes more then that from their investments. for example avatar movie earns around 2 billion$ from a investment of roughly around 200 million$
in conclusion , both of the statements are tue from such perspective but i believe that the need for cinama and theater is not as neccessary as it was before

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear overall view: cinemas and theatres are less necessary than before, while acknowledging their economic and cultural value. You address both sides and include relevant examples, such as streaming platforms and the revenue from Avatar. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for online entertainment is explained at greater length, while the cultural and economic argument is asserted rather than fully explored. For instance, the claim that cinema is part of culture could be supported by explaining how shared viewing or local film industries preserve cultural identity. The economic example would also be stronger if you clarified how cinema supports jobs or related businesses. Develop both sides more evenly and make the reasoning behind each example explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. This makes the overall direction easy to follow, and phrases such as “for example” help introduce supporting details. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: the first body paragraph repeats that people can watch entertainment online and escape reality without clearly separating these points. Some linking phrases, including “while on the other side,” are used mechanically, and the conclusion largely restates the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer topic sentences, group related ideas, and make references more precise so readers can see how each example supports the point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “platform,” “culture,” “economically,” and “investments.” The examples of Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and Avatar also make the discussion concrete. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “important,” “online,” and “escape.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “cinamas,” “alot,” “anr,” and “tue,” as well as awkward expressions like “get a escape from hardships.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Build a wider set of accurate topic collocations and proofread spelling; for example, use “streaming services” and “box-office revenue” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain causes and examples, so the response is not limited entirely to simple statements. However, the range is restricted, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “i strongly believes,” “there alot of platform,” and “most of the movies earns,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “get a escape” and the fragment “because nowadays most of the people use internet alot” show problems with article use and punctuation. Capitalisation and commas are inconsistent as well. Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences with controlled clauses and check agreement, articles, and punctuation during revision.
