Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is widely debated whether digital platforms or cinemas and theatres should be given greater priority. While both perspectives have considerable merit, I firmly believe that both viewpoints are valid as they address different yet complementary aspects of entertainment.
On the one hand, there are compelling reasons to support the notion that theatres and cinemas are the heart of entertainment because of their cultural association to it. The primary justification of this perspective lies in the fact that people have nostalgic connections with them. It is largely attributable to their very first source of fun and entertainment for people; they loved to go to cinemas on weekend and special occasions to enjoy films with their loved ones. Morever, these theatres generate a considerable revenue for their workers and film makers. Consequently, cinemas and theatres are important both historically and economically, underscoring their significance to the entertainment.
On the other hand, an equally compelling argument can be made in favour of digital platforms. This viewpoint is particularly persuasive because of its benefits like; anyone can watch their favourite content in their homes on their phones and LCDs. For instance, netflix has every show and movie on its social app; which can be easily accessed by getting netflix subscription.
Such circumstances demonstrate the advantages of digital platforms, therefore this perspective should not be overlooked.
In conclusion, although cinemas and digital platform emphasise different aspects of entertainment, I firmly believe that both are equally important. While the former contributes economically and culturally, the latter plays a pivotal role in time saving. Ultimately, a balanced approach that incorporates both perspectives is likely to yield more comprehensive and sustainable outcomes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both sides and state a clear position: cinemas and theatres contribute culturally and economically, while digital platforms offer convenience. The points about shared memories and Netflix access are relevant, and the conclusion restates your balanced view. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The digital-platform paragraph mainly says people can watch at home and gives Netflix as an example; it could explain more fully why this convenience matters, such as affordability, accessibility, or choice. The economic and cultural claims about venues also need specific support—for example, how they create jobs or preserve live performance traditions. Developing these ideas and making your reasoning more precise would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow. This is a sound foundation, and the reader can identify the main argument throughout. Some connections are less smooth or precise: “Such circumstances demonstrate the advantages of digital platforms, therefore…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma, and the final paragraph repeats the balanced position without adding much synthesis. Aim to connect examples more explicitly to the claims they support and vary transitions so the organisation feels less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “nostalgic connections,” “considerable revenue,” and “pivotal role.” These choices help communicate the contrast between traditional venues and online entertainment, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, several collocations and word choices are awkward or imprecise, such as “cultural association to it,” “their very first source of fun,” and “on its social app.” There are also spelling and capitalisation slips, including “Morever” and “netflix.” Choose more natural combinations and check spelling and proper nouns carefully. More precise vocabulary would strengthen the argument without requiring unnecessarily complex wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “because of its benefits” and the contrast structure “While the former contributes…”. Most sentences remain understandable, and errors do not generally obstruct the message. Some grammatical and punctuation problems remain. For example, “anyone can watch their favourite content in their homes” has an awkward number pattern, while “benefits like; anyone…” uses punctuation incorrectly. In “netflix has every show and movie on its social app; which…,” the semicolon is not appropriate before a dependent clause. Practise accurate clause joining, articles and number agreement, and proofread punctuation so your varied structures are controlled more consistently.
