Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that theatre are cinemas are no more significant in the digital world as people can watch all the entertainment online, whereas others argue that they are still important both economically and culturally. Both views are right at their own place and i strongly believe that internet world has definitely impacted the theatre and cinemas economically but not culturally.
Online world has definitely created the access of entertainment easy and cheap. people now just have to pay the internet bill and they get the access to most of the movies and tv shows for free as they are available on several website and they get an option to decide based on the reviews but in theatre and cinema there are less options, aditionally have to pay for the ticket even if the ticket is cheap but foods are always expensive, wheres people can enjoy there show with their favourite meal sitting at home. All this comfort and option make people watch entertainment online eventually affecting the revenue of theatre and cinemas.
However the feel of theatre and cinema are unmatched compared to any source of entertainment because of the big screens, speakers and black environment which makes the show more engaging and heavily increasing the feel of the place. So people still wants the feel of theatre and cinemas because of its another level of experience. So ultimately its not affected culturally.
In conclusion, the digital world has not taken over the experience of theatre and cinemas but has made its place in the economy of entertainment because being a cheap option but culturally it can never provide that kind of experience digitally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both perspectives and give a clear position: online entertainment has affected cinemas economically, but not culturally. The first body paragraph explains the online option’s convenience and lower cost, while the next argues that the large screen and sound create a distinctive experience. These are relevant reasons, and the conclusion restates your view. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the case for cinemas’ continuing economic and cultural importance is reduced mainly to the viewing experience, and the economic impact is asserted rather than supported with a specific example. Clarify what “economically” means—for instance, effects on jobs or local businesses—and explain more fully why shared viewing has cultural value. This would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the online and cinema perspectives, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “whereas,” “However,” and “In conclusion” to signal contrasts and stages in the discussion. At times, though, cohesion feels mechanical or the links are not fully logical. Repeating “So” several times in the cinema paragraph makes the progression sound repetitive, and “So ultimately its not affected culturally” does not clearly connect the viewing experience to cultural importance. Use more precise transitions and develop each paragraph through a reason followed by an explanation or example. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow what “its” refers to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital world,” “revenue,” “reviews,” “big screens,” and “experience.” There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “economically and culturally” and “another level of experience.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “created the access of entertainment easy,” “at their own place,” and “black environment.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “aditionally” and “whers” also reduce precision. Aim for natural combinations—for example, say that online platforms “make entertainment more accessible” and that cinemas offer an “immersive atmosphere.” More accurate, varied vocabulary would help express the economic and cultural arguments precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “whereas” and a reason introduced by “because.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction, and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “theatre are cinemas” has incorrect agreement and article use, while “people still wants” should use a plural verb. The long sentence beginning “people now just have to pay” contains several ideas joined together, making its structure difficult to control. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “i” and “people” after a full stop. Practise building accurate complex sentences and separating related points with full stops; this will improve clarity while preserving your range.
