Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people hold a believe that as people watch all the entertainment programmes on online methods so there is no importance of threatres and cinemas while other believe that theatres and cinemas are plays cruical roles in our lifes both economically and culturally. This essay will discuss both views before giving my own opinion.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why people believe that cinemas and threatres had no importance in our life. Nowadays technology has been rapidly grow, everyone has smartphone, television, laptop and so on. The impact is directly influced the market of movies due to online tv progrommes has directly shift on to Netflix, Amazon prime, Jio cinema and Hotstar. Furthermore, People prefer to watch online tv shows rather then going out to watch movies because they feel relaxed and the comparetely story has impact alot in the tv progromme.

On the other hand, some people argue that theatres and cinemas play a lead role to represent our history economically and culturally. This is because our history heriatge was known by bollywood, tollywood there are various movies that win owscer award and represent our culture. Moreover, some movies make in big budget so they want people to watch it so that the amount invested on that picture is recovered, it also play a big hand to boost our economy.

In conclusion, both views have their wown advantages and disadvantages. However I believe that cinemas and threatres are still important for our economy and cultures without them our existence is negligible in the world cinema.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference in the conclusion: cinemas and theatres remain important economically and culturally. The examples of streaming platforms and films representing culture are relevant to the topic. However, the arguments are only partly developed. The case for online entertainment focuses mainly on convenience, while the cultural argument relies on broad claims about film industries and awards; explain more clearly how these affect audiences or society. The economic point about recovering production costs is relevant, but its connection to the wider importance of cinemas could be made more explicit. Your position is clearest at the end, so signal it earlier and support it consistently with specific reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help distinguish the arguments. The progression within paragraphs is generally understandable, with examples following the main claims. To strengthen cohesion further, make the links between ideas more precise: for example, the move from streaming platforms to viewers feeling relaxed is abrupt, and “the comparetely story” does not clearly refer back to a specific point. Some linking phrases are formulaic, and the conclusion repeats the two sides rather than briefly synthesising the reasons behind your opinion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “online,” “economically,” “culturally,” “big budget,” and “boost our economy,” so the reader can understand the general discussion. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make parts difficult to interpret. Examples include “hold a believe,” “plays cruical roles,” “history heriatge,” and “the comparetely story.” Repetition of “people,” “movies,” and “importance” also limits precision. Build a more reliable set of expressions for discussing access, cultural representation, and economic impact, and check spelling carefully. More accurate collocations would make your ideas clearer without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and clauses introduced by “because” and “so that.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “technology has been rapidly grow” needs a correct participle, while “theatres and cinemas are plays” combines incompatible verb forms. In “some movies make in big budget,” the passive construction is incomplete, and “it also play” does not agree with its subject. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb. Punctuation and capitalisation also need more consistent attention.
