Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people argued that in this digital pace, theatres and cinemas are no longer essential as people can access all the entertainement they want online. However, others claim that theatres and cinemas are still crucial both economically and culturally. This essay will analyse the both viewpoints before presenting my personal view.
One the other side, why theatres and cinemas are less important. One of the primary reasons is that online entertainment saves time and travel expenses. To explain, in contemporary society, entertainment is readily available on digital platforms, which people can easily access through the internet. They can watch movies, TV shows and documentaries from the comfort of their homes, which not only saves time but also reduces travel costs instead of paying tickets bills, travelling bills in PVR's. One clear evident is platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video allow people to watch the latest shows and movies online with ease.
On the flip side, why theatres and cinemas are still important. One of the significant factor in economic category is create more job opportunities. They provide a platform for local artists to showcase their skills in front of large audience. By demonstrating their talents and dedication towards their work, these artists can earn money for their family members. In addition, in cultural identity category, it helps to preserve cultural tradition of our native country through films, TV documentaries. People can learn more about the different cultures, customs, traditions and beliefs. For example, historical films often portray the lifestyle, tradition and way of living of people in earlier life. Therefore, is the reason theatres play a vital role in preserving cultural identity and economic development.
In my opinion, i believe that people should watch more and more traditional movies and TV documentries to know more about culture for future generation.
In conclusion, although theatres and cinems often charge high for the tickets, bills and became less important for certain reasons yet it has still an essential for creating more jobs career and to preserve for heritage identity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion: online viewing is presented as convenient and less costly, while cinemas and theatres are linked to employment and cultural preservation. Your opinion is also stated, particularly in the paragraph supporting traditional films and documentaries. However, the response only partially develops the task. The economic point focuses on artists’ opportunities without explaining the wider economic role of venues, and the cultural point shifts between theatres, films and television without clearly distinguishing them. The final opinion is brief and does not fully explain why these venues remain important alongside online entertainment. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation and a specific, relevant example, and make your position consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the flip side,” “In addition” and “In conclusion” help signal changes in direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: “One the other side, why theatres and cinemas are less important” is not a complete topic sentence, and the economic and cultural points are joined without a smooth explanation of their relationship. Some connections are also repetitive or awkward, including “Therefore, is the reason.” Use direct topic sentences, organise each paragraph around one main idea, and make references such as “it” and “these artists” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “digital platforms,” “travel expenses,” “job opportunities,” “cultural identity” and “preserving.” This gives the response enough topic-related language to communicate its main points. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts less natural or harder to follow. Examples include “digital pace,” “tickets bills,” “one clear evident,” “traditional movies” and “cinems.” Some phrases are also repeated, such as “culture,” “tradition” and “important.” Build a more precise set of expressions for convenience, venue economics and cultural value, and check spelling and common word combinations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which people can easily access through the internet” and a contrast structure beginning “although.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence formation, agreement, articles and verb patterns. For example, “One the other side, why theatres and cinemas are less important” is a fragment, while “One of the significant factor … is create” has problems with number and sentence structure. The conclusion, “it has still an essential,” is also incomplete. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise building complete sentences around a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles and punctuation.
