Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the digital age , some people believe tht theatres and cinmas are not important becouse all entertainment is available online .Other thinks that they are still important for economy and culture.Tis essay will discuss both views and argue that theatres and cinemas are still necessary.

On the one hand, watching entertainments online has many advantages. Firstly, its is affordable and convenient. People can watch movies and shows at home on mobile or laptop without buying expensive cinema tickets .

forexample, platforms like Netflix and youtube provide thousands of films for a small monthly fee. Secondly, online entertainment saves time becouse prople do not need to travel. Especially for students like in swat, it is difficult to go to a cinema in another city.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturlly. Ecinomically, they create many jobs for actors, staff, and local shops. A cinema also helps the localleconomy becouse people buy food and tickets ,Culturally, theatres and cinemas keep our traditions alive. for instance, in pakistan, theatre show tell stories about our history and culture, which cannot be felt on a small mobile screen. The experience of watching a film with many people in a bog hall is completely different and more enjoyable.

In my opinion, akthough online entertainment is popular, theatres and cinemas will never lose their importance. They are not just fot watching movies; they are places for social and cultural activities. Government should support them.

In conclusion, while digital platforms are convenient, theatres and cinemas still have great economic and cultural value.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a consistent opinion: the introduction says cinemas remain necessary, and the conclusion restates their economic and cultural value. Relevant support includes affordability and convenience online, local jobs, and the shared cinema experience. The Pakistan example also helps connect the discussion to a specific cultural context. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that theatres keep traditions alive would be stronger with a clearer account of how performances preserve or transmit them. The economic argument could also explain more precisely how cinemas benefit nearby businesses. The response covers the task well overall, but fuller development and more specific support would strengthen it further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and the examples generally sit with the points they support. Some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and the opinion paragraph largely repeats ideas already given rather than advancing them. There are also places where punctuation and sentence boundaries interrupt the flow, such as the run-on transition after “tickets” before “Culturally.” Use a wider range of links and clearer sentence boundaries to make cohesion more flexible and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “affordable,” “convenient,” “local economy,” “traditions,” and “social and cultural activities.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “entertainments,” “culturlly,” “Ecinomically,” and “bog hall.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “theatre show tell stories” and “cannot be felt on a small mobile screen.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, but they make the writing less fluent and occasionally require extra effort. Build a more accurate range of collocations for discussing employment, cultural preservation, and the shared viewing experience.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and some more developed structures, including the contrast clause “while digital platforms are convenient” and the relative clause “which cannot be felt on a small mobile screen.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Other thinks” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “theatre show tell stories” has problems with number and verb agreement. The sentence beginning “Especially for students like in swat” is also incomplete as written. Punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries are inconsistent, which sometimes makes the structure harder to follow. Practise checking agreement, complete sentence construction, and punctuation while retaining the complex forms you have attempted.
