Student answer (Band 6.0)

Digital age is now changing the ways we used to excess entertainment contents i.e. movies , drama and plays etc.One can easily excess any movie, series or drama directly on thier phones without going out at theatres.People argue that there is therefore, no need for theatres and cinema now but, in my opinion totally depends on the type of movie they willing to watch.

One one hand , theatres and cinema not just provide the movie as content but also help us to fully detach ourselves form life struggles and make us relaxed and calm. Its not just about movies but the struggles and the process of going out on cinema that make the simple movie to look like a grand celebration . For example, dressing ourselves, engaging family, and buying food etc.

On other hand, one can surely appreciate online mediums for their great flexibility and cost effactiveness. One can easily view any movie while being with their family at their homes .No need to spend lots of money and effort.

In my opinion, both values are correct in their claims but, for me its more about the type of movie which becomes the majour selection factor that defines, weather I should go to theatres or watch it online. For example, I prefer to watch a comedy or romance movies like "Mr been" or "Titenic" on my phone only reather then going out to a hall but , really can't imagine myself viewing science fiction, action and graphically active movies like "Avenger" or 'Avatar" on small phone screen.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both perspectives and give a personal view: online viewing is presented as flexible and economical, while cinemas offer an outing and a more immersive experience. Your examples about watching comedy or romance on a phone versus science-fiction and action films in a cinema make your preference clear. However, the discussion of the economic and cultural importance of theatres is only lightly addressed; the response focuses more on personal convenience and enjoyment. The first view could also be developed beyond cost and flexibility. To strengthen the response, explain more directly how cinemas contribute economically or culturally, and extend each main point with a reason or specific example. Your position is relevant, though the claim that the choice depends on the film could be stated more clearly and consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding personal opinion. The progression from the cinema experience to online convenience and then to your own preference is easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “On one hand,” “On other hand,” and “In my opinion,” which helps readers identify the stages of the argument. To make the organisation more polished, use these transitions accurately and avoid relying on them as the main links between ideas. Some sentences within the cinema paragraph are loosely connected, and the conclusion repeats earlier examples rather than drawing the comparison together. Clearer links explaining how each point supports your position would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “flexibility,” “cost effectiveness,” “detach ourselves,” and “selection factor.” These choices help communicate ideas about convenience and the cinema experience. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “excess” for “access,” “thier,” “effactiveness,” and “majour.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “fully detach ourselves form life struggles” and “graphically active movies.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. A broader set of terms for the cultural and economic roles of cinemas would also help you express the task’s ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast between online viewing and cinema-going and a conditional-style comparison in the final paragraph. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “One one hand, theatres and cinema not just provide” lacks a clear subject–verb structure, while “the type of movie they willing to watch” is missing “are.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation, such as “a comedy or romance movies” and the comma placement around “but.” Practise building complete clauses and checking agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries; this will make your ideas easier to follow.
