Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, the impacts of digital world has changed everything. Its a widely discussed issue of how the world has changed digitally. In this essay we will discuss if the theaters and cinemas are still important for the purpose of entertainment as online entertainment is close to hand and easily available. Some people argue that theaters and cinemas are not significant in this modern age where every thing is taken over by digital age.People have more platforms to enjoy that are cheap and easily available.Everyone cas access the entertainment at any time.People are not bound to time and they also have more choices to watch. On the other hand some people still prefer theaters and cinemas for entertainment. In their views cinemas are a source to spread the real culture and is more economic than the online platforms where there is no real representation of culture.Culture is an important trait of any society and it can not be ignored but in the digital age where everyone has access to online platforms, no one bother to watch cultural entertainment. For example, nowadays we have different social media apps where non stop online entertainment is available.People do not bother to watch old cultural videos infact they are much more interested in short fancy reels. In conclusion i personally believe that, social media has destroyed the real culture.I prefer cinemas and theaters beacuse its not only provide entertainment, it connect people with their culture and also provide opportunities to the people to socialize with each other.Digital age has created distance among people whereas theaters are the source that can bring them together again.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear personal preference for cinemas and theatres, especially in the conclusion, where you say they connect people with culture and allow them to socialise. You also outline the online-entertainment view through convenience, choice and availability, and mention cultural and social value in support of the opposing view. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the economic importance of theatres and cinemas is asserted rather than explained, and the claim that online platforms have no real cultural representation is not supported. The response also shifts between cultural preservation and social connection without fully explaining how these points answer both sides of the question. Develop each view with a specific reason or example, and make your position clear from the introduction onward.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable overall shape: an introduction, discussion of online entertainment, a contrasting view, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. However, the ideas are presented in one continuous block rather than clearly separated paragraphs, so the reader has to work to identify the progression. Several points are repeated, including the easy availability of online entertainment and the cultural value of cinemas, while links between claims are sometimes unclear. For example, the statement that cinemas are “more economic” is followed by a claim about culture rather than an explanation of the economic point. Use distinct paragraphs for each view and connect each supporting example directly to its main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “platforms,” “culture,” “entertainment,” and “socialize.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “source to spread the real culture.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear. For instance, “close to hand” is not a natural way to describe online access, and “more economic” does not clearly express whether cinemas are cheaper or contribute to the economy. Spelling and word-form errors such as “beacuse,” “cas access,” and “infact” are also noticeable. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling, while avoiding repeated use of broad terms such as “people” and “culture.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a concluding sentence with several linked ideas. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and verb forms occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “the impacts … has changed,” “cinemas … is a source,” and “it connect people,” where the subject and verb do not agree. The opening also runs several sentences together without spaces after full stops, and “In this essay we will discuss if” is an awkwardly formed clause. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
