Student answer (Band 5.5)

Digital age played a very crucial role in bringing digital resources in the hands of a person. Some people argue that people prefer to see all the entertainment of their taste online while theatres and cinemas are not that important to people. At the same time some people say that theatres and cinemas are still as important as they were used to be oth economically and culturally. I believe that people now find watching entertainment online more convenient than going to cinemas.

Digital age came to make the life and work of people easy. For example, people can get all information about anything with just one click. People in this age access all the things they like through internet. In addition to this, people now access all their entertainment stuff online. This save their cost of travelling and spending money on buying tickets for theatres. Moreover, one can watch anything at any time because cinemas have specific opening and closing time. Furthermore, a whole family can get entertainment while remaining at home as some members may have issues with travelling.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are the places purely used for entertainmnet purposes. These places offer a proper environment where a person can sit and feel the entertainmnet stuff with a large number of audience there. Moreover, some cinemas have very low ticket prices as some online platforms cahrge a lot of fee for using their services. Furthermore, watching entertainment with so many people connects a person emotionally with that specific thing that is being watched.

In the end, online platforms made things accessible to all while sitting at home but at the same time it ended the culture of going to a cinemas, which at one time was a very popular thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and state your view: online entertainment is more convenient, while cinemas provide a shared viewing experience and may offer cheaper tickets than some platforms. These are relevant points, and the examples about travel costs, flexible viewing times, and family members who find travelling difficult help explain the online argument. However, the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is only partly explored. For example, the claim that shared viewing creates an emotional connection is not developed with a specific illustration, and the conclusion mainly repeats the contrast rather than weighing the two views. Develop the cultural and economic arguments more fully and make your final judgement explicit to strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting online viewing, a paragraph defending cinemas, and a concluding statement. This makes the discussion easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “In addition to this,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” to signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical, and several points are added in a list-like sequence rather than being connected through explanation. The final paragraph also introduces the idea that online platforms “ended the culture” of cinema-going without linking it clearly to your stated preference for online viewing. Use fewer formulaic connectors and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting explanation more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, with relevant terms such as “online platforms,” “ticket prices,” “audience,” and “emotionally.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which makes parts of the response less precise. For instance, “all the entertainment of their taste,” “entertainment stuff,” and “feel the entertainment stuff” are vague or awkward; “entertainment they enjoy” and “experience a film” would be more natural. There are also spelling errors, including “entertainmnet” and “cahrge,” and the phrase “oth economically” appears to contain a typo. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, including clauses introduced by “because” and “as,” so there is an attempt to vary sentence forms. Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “This save their cost” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “as they were used to be” is an inaccurate verb construction. Articles and plurals also need attention in “going to a cinemas,” while “Digital age came to make the life and work of people easy” has awkward sentence construction. Practise accurate verb forms, agreement, and article use, then proofread each sentence. More reliable control of these patterns would make your ideas clearer and allow you to use complex sentences with greater confidence.
