Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people think that in the digital age, theatres and cinema are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. I think this is true because nowadays, every person have a mobile phone so they easily watch the entertainment without going in theatres and cinemas. Others argues theatres and cinemas are still important they are also true at some places.
In one hand, people say theatres and cinemas are no longer importand i agree with it because nowadays other life needs are very expencive. So, people have low budget to go in cinema and theatres that's why they want to watch the entertainment at home. Furthermore, now people have many electronic gadgets that help to watch all the entertainment they want online like mobile phones, laptops, LCD, etc. For Example in my house i have a big lcd i prefer to watch all the entertainment online rather then the cinemas and theatres because in home i watch all this free.
In other hand, some people argues that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. I also agree with it becuase when new film release then it first release on theatres and cinemas. So, huge amount of people are come to see this release movie. That's why, they earn much from this. Furthermore, in many countries stage dramas are very popular people also show much intrest to go here and entertains himself. For example, i live in Pakistan in my country huge amount of people show their intrest to watch the stages dramas.
In conclusion, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. but still they different role so i think still theatres and cinemas are still important

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a personal position, especially by explaining that online viewing is cheaper and convenient while cinemas and theatres can attract audiences and generate income. The examples about your home television and stage dramas in Pakistan make the discussion relevant. However, the position is not fully clear: you initially say you agree that cinemas are no longer important, then say you also agree they remain important, and the conclusion does not resolve this tension. The economic and cultural arguments are also only briefly explained; for instance, the point about film releases earning money needs more detail, and the cultural value of live performance could be made clearer. State a balanced but definite opinion and develop each view with specific reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its basic structure. However, progression within and between ideas is limited, and several links are mechanical or unclear. Phrases such as “In one hand” and “In other hand” do not accurately signal the contrast; use “On the one hand” and “On the other hand.” The repeated “Furthermore” and “That’s why” also make connections feel formulaic, while the conclusion repeats the opening claim without reconciling it with the view that theatres remain important. Improve paragraph flow by making each topic sentence precise, linking explanations directly to claims, and using clear references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “electronic gadgets,” “economically,” and “culturally.” The examples also show an attempt to use language beyond very basic everyday terms. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make the writing less natural, such as “importand,” “expencive,” “intrest,” and “watch the stages dramas.” Some wording is vague or repetitive, particularly repeated uses of “entertainment” and “important.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common combinations such as “attend a performance,” “watch films online,” and “generate revenue.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the economic and cultural arguments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple sentences and longer sentences with reasons, using connectors such as “because” and “when.” This gives some variety, but control is inconsistent: many sentences contain errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, or sentence boundaries. Examples include “every person have,” “Others argues,” “people are come,” and “when new film release.” The sentence “Others argues theatres and cinemas are still important they are also true at some places” also joins ideas without suitable punctuation or a clear grammatical link. These recurring errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the main meaning is generally recoverable. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete sentence patterns, then proofread for articles and punctuation.
