Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the today's modern era, digital advancements are happening day by day. Compare to the previous era, where cinema and theatre were been considered as the refreshment source of almost every age group, today's modern people are evolved by getting access to the more interesting sources of entertainment online, For some people, theatres and cinemas hold no spark in modern era, while others prefer it still for its ecomomic values and cultural significance.
In this essay, I will discuss both views, and will discuss that why I am in the favour of the former view.
As, we are now living in the digital age, where access to almost every technology have broaden the choices of people, and everything they want could be brought to their tables the next day, as a result, people of modern age are not anymore taking interest in the outdated sources of entertainment such as theatre and cinema, rather than that, they are prefering activities that offers both comfort and joy and is updated. For these reason, people who were fond of cinema and theatre have installed the big screen in their homes, hence the urge to visit outdoors has subsided with time.
In contrast, people who are still tied to the cultural significance offered by the cinema and the cost relief of watching movie on the big screen rather than purchasing their own screen are prioritizing watching cinema and visiting theatres. For other reasons, such as people who love to socialize and are less familiar with the technology are also sticking to their old choices.
In conclusion, while outdated ways might help you to be connected to your roots and are cost effective, the updated resources offers flexibility and comfort at home.
I personally believe, if somebody prefer comfort and indoor activities over economics and and culture, the utilization of modern online tools and technology can prove to be a better choice,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and make your preference for online entertainment clear, particularly in the introduction and conclusion. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons for the online view, such as convenience and having entertainment at home. The opposing view is also represented through cultural connection, socialising and the cost of cinema compared with buying a large screen. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained: for example, the economic and cultural value of cinemas is mentioned but not illustrated with a specific example or developed consequences. Your position also shifts slightly: the conclusion says online tools are better only if someone prefers comfort over economics and culture. Develop each side more evenly and state your own position consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the overall line of discussion understandable. You also use signposts such as “In contrast” and “In conclusion” to show the relationship between sections. However, some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, including “As” at the start of the second paragraph and repeated cause-and-effect links with “as a result” and “hence.” Several sentences contain multiple ideas joined by commas, which makes the progression harder to follow. The final paragraph also introduces a qualification that is not clearly prepared earlier. Use clearer sentence boundaries, connect each reason directly to its explanation, and make the conclusion follow the position established in the introduction.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital advancements,” “cultural significance,” “socialize,” and “flexibility.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation sometimes make the writing sound unnatural: “refreshment source,” “hold no spark,” “tied to the cultural significance,” and “cost relief” do not express the intended meanings clearly. There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “ecomomic,” “prefering,” and “offers” where the subject is plural. Aim for precise, natural combinations rather than elaborate phrasing; for example, describe cinemas as “a source of entertainment” and refer to their “economic benefits.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “while” and “as a result,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation reduce accuracy. Examples include “In the today's modern era,” “technology have broaden the choices,” and “people … are prefering”; these need more controlled article use, subject–verb agreement and verb forms. Several long sentences are joined with commas, as in the paragraph beginning “As, we are now living…,” creating run-on structures. The conclusion also contains an incomplete or awkwardly connected conditional sentence. Practise building complex sentences with clear clause boundaries, and check agreement and verb forms before adding further clauses.
