Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this electronic era, some people don't condier theratres and cinemas as part of entertainment source while they can stream online. Whereas others belive that these mediums play vital role in the growth of ecnomic and social sectors. However, my personal opinion is to get entertained online as these methods are not that much important in this modern era because this way we can get the same content in affordable price and due to comapctness we can watch on mutliple devices, any time.

Firstly, theatres and cinemas are too expensive for an ordinary person as ticket price even for a movie is considerable high if compared to the internet package. Becasue the price of an internet package is very minimal, like we can have an internet package of a week on which we can watch multiple movies incontranst to pruchase a ticket for same amount. This way consumers can have the same media at a inconsiderable price. Another main factor is the compactness of devices which can be consumed to get entertained becasue users can carry these devices including smart phones, iphones, Tabs and laptops any where at any time instead of travelling to the specifc locations of cinemas and theatres.

In the meantime, others also think that cinemas and theatres are ways to collect the taxes for government in order to bring some progress to ecnomic progress as well as some of them also belief that this is a part of their culture to be gathered at one place and enjoy, so that it becomes the part of their memory.

From the overall prespective, It can be concluded that despite of some people opinions the positive aspects of having online entertainment source is quite affordable and convinent to carry and use, which overcomes it to those people's thought.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall preference for online entertainment, supported by affordability and the convenience of watching on portable devices. You also acknowledge the opposing view by mentioning government tax revenue and the cultural value of gathering to watch performances. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the economic point is asserted rather than explained, and the cultural point receives little support or example. The comparison between subscription costs and cinema tickets is relevant, but the wording makes the comparison difficult to follow. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how cinemas contribute economically and culturally, then make your position explicit in the conclusion and connect it to the reasons discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting online viewing, a paragraph presenting the other view, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and the opposing-view paragraph is much less developed than the first. Some linking is mechanical or unclear: “Whereas others” does not form a complete contrast with the preceding sentence, while “In the meantime” is not an accurate transition to the counterargument. The conclusion repeats the preference but does not clearly synthesise both sides. Use more precise transitions and develop each paragraph around one clearly explained main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “internet package,” “taxes for government,” “culture,” and “devices,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “vital role” and “economic progress.” However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Examples include “condier,” “theratres,” “inconsiderable price,” and “compactness of devices which can be consumed.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “entertainment source” and “collect the taxes.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate wording, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for economic and cultural contributions would also help you discuss both views.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “as ticket price…” and a sentence explaining that viewers can use portable devices. However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in sentence formation and grammatical patterns sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “Whereas others believe…” is a fragment, and “theatres and cinemas are too expensive… as ticket price…” lacks accurate article and plural forms. The opening sentence also combines ideas in an unclear structure, while the final sentence has an awkward “despite of” construction. Practise building complete sentences with clear subject–verb relationships, and check articles, plurals, and clause connections before adding complexity.
