Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue that in the techinal age, the importance of theater and cinemas are no longer essential as individual can watch everything online the type of entertainment that want. While others think that theaters and cinemas are still beneficial for both economically and culturally. I believe theaters and cinema still has value for entertainment. This essay will discuss about both views.

On one hand, the main disadvantage of theaters and cinemas are it cost more money and also the travelling time. As every movie and other shows are available online and can be access from anywhere why to travel at cinema. Cinema and theaters consist the place which can be used for something else. Although, for many people spending money to watch the entertainment is not worth or affordable, which makes it limited. For example, if there is realse of new movie or any show it will come online after such days and can be easily accebile online. As a result, there is no need to go on theaters and cinemas specially for the entertainment. As the food sole in theaters were also the doubled price which is not good for people.

On the other hand, there are many advantages of cinema and theaters. One of the main benifit of theater is we can watch an show on a large screen with comfortable seats. As the movie can be accible from online afterwords but people who want to watch earlier can buy a first day first show tickets. For instance, spening money on cinema can generate income for owners and they will pay the tax to government. Therefore, it makes contribution in GDP which benefts both economically and culturally.

In conclusion, theatres and cinemas has equal number of benefits and drawbacks beacuse of different perspective of individuals. I believe, cinema and theater has importance, specially when it contributes in economy of a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your position: the opening says cinemas “still has value,” and the conclusion links them to the economy. The discussion is relevant, but it is only partly developed. The case against venues focuses mainly on cost, travel and online access, while the case for them relies largely on the large screen, early viewing and tax revenue. The cultural importance named in the prompt is not really explained, and the economic point would be stronger with a clearer account of jobs or local business. Your opinion is present, but it could be more decisive and supported with a specific example. Develop each side with fuller reasoning and make the cultural argument explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective, and the reader can follow the main line of argument. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Although, for many people…” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point, and “Therefore” introduces an economic conclusion that has not been fully explained. The introduction also promises to “discuss about both views,” but the body’s progression could be more purposeful. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and ensure pronouns and references point unambiguously to the idea being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “large screen,” “tickets,” “income,” “tax” and “GDP,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less precise: “techinal age,” “food sole,” “realse,” “accebile” and “benifit” are examples. Phrases such as “theaters and cinemas are still beneficial” and “contribution in GDP” are also not natural in context. Aim to learn accurate topic collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise terms for cultural value, audience experience and economic impact would help you express the two sides with less repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional-style question (“As every movie… is available online… why to travel…”) and a concession beginning “Although.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. Examples include “the importance… are,” “individual can watch,” “can be access,” and “theaters and cinemas has.” The question “why to travel at cinema” is also not formed as a natural grammatical question, while the “Although” clause is left awkwardly connected. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete complex sentences before adding more clauses.
