Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and state a preference for online entertainment, while also mentioning cinemas’ cultural and economic roles. The example about people being busy and watching films when convenient is relevant, and the reference to cinema screenings generating income begins to support the opposing view. However, the position is not consistently clear: the opening is difficult to interpret, and the conclusion mainly repeats both sides rather than clearly confirming your own opinion. Several points, such as cinemas as a way to spend time with family and the importance of “old culture,” are asserted but not explained. Develop each view with a clearer reason or specific example, and make your own judgement explicit throughout. The response meets the stated length requirement; 11 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting online viewing, a paragraph about cinemas, and a concluding paragraph. This helps the reader identify the two sides being discussed. However, progression within and between paragraphs is often unclear, and the conclusion repeats earlier points instead of bringing them together into a clear final judgement. Linking phrases such as “In the other hand” are used inaccurately, while repeated “For example” and “In the last” do not always show the relationship between ideas. Some references, including “they” and “this,” have unclear antecedents. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, explain it in sequence, and use accurate transitions and references to make the connections easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant topic words, including “cinemas,” “theatres,” “online,” “economically,” and “culturally,” so the general subject is usually recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or forms make meaning less clear. For instance, “a good thing for activity” does not express the intended benefit precisely, and “old culture” is repeated without clarifying whether you mean a shared cinema-going tradition. Spelling errors such as “opinon,” “enterainment,” “relise,” and “industoray” also reduce accuracy. Build a more varied set of phrases for convenience, shared experiences, cultural traditions, and revenue, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple patterns, and you make some attempts to connect ideas with clauses, as in “some people is busy in the work or office they do not have time to go there.” However, sentence boundaries and basic grammatical forms are frequently inaccurate, so the reader sometimes has to work to understand the relationships between ideas. Examples include “Other says,” “Cinemas has,” “people have no time to go the cinemas,” and “they prefer to watch where he comfortable.” These show problems with agreement, pronouns, articles, and verb forms. Punctuation is also unreliable, particularly the sentence fragments beginning “For example.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “while,” and “although.”
