Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify both sides of the discussion and give a personal view, stating that online entertainment is “very cost saving.” You also offer relevant points about subscriptions, convenience, the large screen and spending time with family or friends. However, the response is incomplete: the cinema-side point is left unfinished (“like”), and there is no developed conclusion. The economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not really explained, so the discussion only partially addresses the prompt and the ideas remain limited. The response contains 173 words, which is 77 words below the required minimum; this leaves too little space to develop reasons and examples. To improve, explain each side fully, support claims with specific examples, and finish with a clear conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction followed by paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand.” These signposts help the reader recognise the two viewpoints, and “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” show an attempt to organise supporting points. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph ends abruptly, and the first also stops after “Thirdly.” Some linking is mechanical, while connections between claims are not explained. For example, the point about subscriptions is followed by platform names without a complete supporting sentence. Develop each paragraph in a clear sequence—main idea, explanation, example—and add a concluding paragraph so the response feels complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “online platforms,” “subscription,” “big screen,” and “quality time,” so the reader can identify the subject of the discussion. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “online platforms” and “beneficial.” Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “very cost saving,” “big screen cinema,” and “watch movies in this platforms.” “Prospective” is also not the intended word for expressing a viewpoint. Aim for more precise topic language and vary repeated terms; for example, describe online viewing as “convenient” or “cost-effective,” and refer to “cinema-going” or “the theatrical experience.” Check spelling and word forms as well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast between online viewing and cinema-going. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Most of the individuals believe in the digital age” lacks a clear grammatical connection between the belief and the claim, while “there are several reasons of online platforms very beneficial” is missing a complete clause structure. There are also problems with agreement and articles in “online platform are” and “the experience is very good.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and sentence endings. Avoid leaving clauses unfinished, as in the final “like.”
