Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response touches on both views: it says busy people may watch entertainment online for convenience, while families can enjoy going to cinemas together. It also gives a personal example and ends by supporting cinemas’ cultural value. However, the discussion is only minimal and does not clearly explain the economic importance mentioned in the prompt. The opening is difficult to interpret, and the writer’s own position becomes apparent mainly in the conclusion rather than being stated clearly and supported throughout. The family outing example includes extensive description of scenery but does not clearly show why cinemas matter economically or culturally. To strengthen the response, state your position directly, explain each side with relevant reasons, and connect examples explicitly to those reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, discussion, personal example and conclusion, and phrases such as “In another view” and “In conclusion” signal changes in direction. However, ideas are not arranged coherently enough for the reader to follow the argument consistently. The opening sentences are unclear, and the long paragraph about the family outing shifts from watching a film to a car journey and natural scenery without a clear link to the main point. Connections between sentences are often missing, while some transitions do not accurately show the relationship between ideas. Use one paragraph for each view, keep each paragraph focused on a single reason, and use clear references and linking phrases to show how examples support your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response attempts some topic-related and descriptive vocabulary, including “cultural community,” “crucial role,” “invigorating,” and “scenic,” showing an effort to go beyond very basic wording. However, the range is uneven, and inaccurate word choice, spelling and collocation often make the meaning difficult to understand. Phrases such as “watching out in theatres,” “plays on TV,” and “rich and varied impression” are not natural in this context; several spellings, including “onliine,” “relly,” and “benfits,” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise, familiar expressions before using more elaborate language. For example, describe the convenience of streaming and the social experience of attending a cinema using accurate, natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is limited and errors are frequent enough to obscure meaning. For example, “many of the individuals leads us a busy life” has problems with agreement and sentence structure, while “some peoples are interested to see cinemas” does not form the intended grammatical pattern. The sentence beginning “As customarily in the morning in a car…” is incomplete, and the final sentence, “Assimilated is an important place…,” is also structurally unclear. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, including sentence starts such as “i” and “i always.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries before adding longer clauses.
