Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern era, movies and theatre shows are widely available online on everyone's smart device. Some believe that the role of theatre and cinema is vital to preserve our culture and flourish financially, while others argue that it is not needed now as anyone may watch movies and shows on smart-phones. Although movies are available online, I strongly believe theatre and cinema should not be dismissed as they represent our basic culture and tradition.
On the one hand, some people argue that if everything is available on internet and free to watch, why would someone pay the ticket price to view it live. Planning to watch movies and theatre shows may involve unnecessary transport costs. Additionally, disturbing the comfort zone of people. For instance, watching movies on a big screen at home may provide better experience than people would have in cinema. Therefore, staying at home while using smart devices to watch these things saves you a lot of expense as well as discomfort associated with travelling.
On the other hand, others believe cinema and theatre are crucial for our economy and culture. They explain that movies represent our local culture and forecast our traditions which the younger generation might have ignored or forgotten. Theatre and cinema are the major contributors to our running economy as film-makers produce films mainly to be displayed in cinemas. To illustrate, films make more money through theatres as compared with any other platform. Ultimately, it should not be ignored or neglected as it may have tremendous impact on our economy as well as on our culture.
In conclusion, I would state that theatre and cinema are pivotal for our economy and culture. Nevertheless, people prefer to watch movies at home to avoid extra expenses. Both views are right and justified but I may be personally inclined towards its benefits as they preserve our core tradition and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both perspectives and make your own view clear: the introduction and conclusion support keeping theatres and cinemas because of their cultural and economic value. The online-viewing paragraph gives relevant reasons, including ticket and transport costs and the comfort of watching at home. The opposing case also identifies cultural representation and economic contribution. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that films make more money through theatres than on other platforms is not supported, and the cultural argument would benefit from a specific example. The response therefore addresses the whole task, but develops some ideas more fully than others. Explain how the examples demonstrate the claimed benefits and qualify broad claims where appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “Additionally, disturbing the comfort zone of people” is a sentence fragment and does not connect cleanly to the preceding point. The conclusion’s “Both views are right and justified” also sits somewhat awkwardly beside your stronger preference for cultural and economic benefits. Use linking phrases to show the exact relationship between ideas, and make references such as “its benefits” unambiguous. This would make cohesion less mechanical and progression more consistently clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “preserve our culture,” “transport costs,” “major contributors,” and “younger generation.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and you attempt more formal expressions such as “pivotal” and “tremendous impact.” Some less natural word choices and collocations limit precision: “forecast our traditions” does not express the intended idea, while “running economy” and “disturbing the comfort zone” sound awkward in context. “Smart device” and “smart-phones” are also used inconsistently. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than choosing a more elaborate phrase simply for formality. More precise vocabulary for cultural influence and economic contribution would strengthen the argument without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the concession in “Although movies are available online” and the conditional question about why people would pay for a ticket. Most meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors and punctuation choices are noticeable. “Additionally, disturbing the comfort zone of people” is a fragment; connect it to the previous sentence or make it a complete clause. In “if everything is available on internet,” the article is missing, and “watching movies on a big screen at home may provide better experience” also needs an article before “better experience.” The final sentence shifts between plural “people” and singular “its.” Review sentence boundaries, articles, and pronoun agreement, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
