Student answer (Band 5.5)

Entertainment is the medium which is seen online aswell as experienced offline in recent days. A section of this society belives that in the digital age cinemas and theaters are no longer useful as the films and acts can be watched online. While there are people who are of the opinion that theatres and cinemas are still important both econimially aswell as culturally. This essay will discuss both the conflicting views before it reaches the appropriate conclusion.

On one hand there are individuals who are of the opinion that digital platforms are the best medium to watch films and art in this digital era. The primary reason of this belif is the OTT platforms which provides 1000 plus numbers of movies and tv shows all together on one sigle page. For example Amozon Prime, Netflix, Hotstar these platform showcases movies from all around the world and are translated in different languages. another reason for masses to have this stand point is convinence to be able to watch comforting shows and movies any time anywhere is possible due to online platforms.

On the other hand, there are those who seem to be convinced with the fact that theaters and cinemas are important. The foremost reason for this belif is as it provides a real time experience and can get an individual a moment to appreciate the culture that they live in by actually being present in the theater and watching an act makes a connection between the artists and the audiences. For instance watching the movie screening in a theater and meeting the actors at the same spots makes the experience more special. Further more balancing the cutural economy by visiting the cinema halls and theaters is also important reason for people to have this mindser as it encourages young generation to follow their passion and move ahead in life with it.

To conclude, in line with the views presented above it is evident that both these differing views hold on to their respective positions and sense of relevance, I, however, am of the outlook that at the digital age the ott platforms are of great convinence for the individuals who are busy and can take out time for visiting cinemas and theaters.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question: the online-platform paragraph explains choice and convenience, while the next paragraph discusses live experience, cultural connection and economic support. Your conclusion also gives a preference for online platforms, so a position is present. However, the task asks for a discussion of both views and your opinion, and your own view is not fully clear: the conclusion says online viewing suits busy people, but does not explain whether you consider cinemas and theatres important overall. Several points are asserted rather than developed—for example, the claim that attending venues balances the cultural economy needs a clearer explanation or example. Make your position explicit and extend the main reasons with specific support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, progression is sometimes mechanical, relying on “The primary reason,” “another reason,” and “Further more” rather than showing how each point connects. Some references are also unclear: “this standpoint” and “this mindset” require readers to infer which argument they refer to. The conclusion largely repeats the contrast instead of drawing the discussion together. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and make each paragraph build toward a clear central point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “real time experience,” “cultural economy,” and “connection between the artists and the audiences.” This is enough to communicate the main ideas, but control is uneven: several spellings and word choices are inaccurate, such as “belives,” “convinence,” “mindser,” and “economimially.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, including “1000 plus numbers of movies” and “comforting shows,” which can distract from the argument. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe platforms as offering “a wide selection of films and television programmes,” and use “convenient” to describe on-demand viewing. More precise vocabulary would make your points clearer and more persuasive.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While there are people…” and a reason clause explaining the appeal of online platforms. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “While there are people who are of the opinion…” is a dependent clause used as a sentence, and “The primary reason … is the OTT platforms which provides” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “convenience to be able to watch … is possible,” the sentence structure is awkward and incomplete in its logic. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles and punctuation when combining clauses.
