Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, some people argue that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas have lost their importance, while some argue that theatres and cinemas still remains a vital pillar for economic and cultural importance. I personally believe that digitalization has changed the aspects of theatres and cinemas. This essay will discuss both the views incorporating my opinion.
In the modern world, people are becoming busy and spontaneous workloads have kept individuals confined. For instance, despite having thoughts of watching movie in theatres and cinemas, an individual often end up watching it in a mobile screen or any portable device. This often leads to saving time and money, additionally, they can also focus on their daily tasks, which is more viable.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas represents a place, where people can share their thoughts and together enjoy different emotions. They can share their own culture. Cinemas and theatres can also share economic benifits to the local people, representing a common place for selling food items and theme based clothing shop. For example, theatres can be a common place, where men or women can share their ideas about a perticular theme, and at the same time it can be a oppurtunity for local people to earn.
In conclusion, although theatres and cinemas can have much benifits to the local people in economic and cultural terms, it is not much viable in the modern world. Time and money carry much more importance to the public, indeed, people prefer entertainment applications like youtube and netflix over cinemas and theatres.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views and state a preference for online entertainment in the conclusion, while also mentioning convenience, cost, cultural exchange and local economic benefits. However, the discussion is only partially developed: the first view is mainly supported by one example about busy people, and the cultural and economic claims are asserted rather than explained in detail. Your opening says digitalisation has changed theatres, but does not clearly establish your position until the conclusion. The response is also one word below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are excluded from the count. To strengthen the response, explain each side with a specific example and make your opinion clear from the introduction onward.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its basic organisation. Linking phrases such as “For instance,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the first body paragraph moves from busy schedules to saving money and focusing on tasks without fully connecting these points, while the second combines cultural sharing and local business benefits without developing either clearly. Some references, such as “it” in the final example, are not fully clear. Use a more deliberate sequence of claim, explanation and example in each paragraph, and connect ideas with precise references rather than relying mainly on standard transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “digital age,” “portable device,” “economic benefits,” and “local people,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, which makes parts of the response awkward. For example, “spontaneous workloads” does not clearly express demanding schedules, and “share economic benefits to the local people” is not a natural construction. There are also spelling errors such as “benifits,” “perticular,” and “oppurtunity.” Aim for more precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms such as “important” and “share” with context-specific vocabulary would make the discussion clearer and more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in the conclusion and a clause beginning “despite having thoughts of watching.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make the phrasing difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “theatres and cinemas still remains” and “theatres and cinemas represents,” and the missing article in “watching movie.” The sentence beginning “For instance” also shifts from “an individual” to “they,” creating inconsistent reference, while “it can be a opportunity” has an article error. Build accuracy first in basic sentence patterns, checking agreement, articles and consistent pronouns; then use complex clauses only when their structure is controlled. More error-free sentences would improve clarity.
