Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today era, we human being are entitled with many development that includes many convenient facility. This have both pros and cons, according to situation ,i believe. The statement, that some people in this digital age, no longer goes to cinemas and theatres as they can watch it online, meanwhile some still finds both cinemas and theatre important and more fun.

I believe, the people who continuously go cinemas and theatre, is someone who really loves art and don't want to miss the pleasure of watching it with best quality and visuals. It gives them sense of entertainment and peace that way. some are people who only go to watch if its their favorite show or favorite actors are in the show, or else they watch it in online. This mean they only want to invest their time and money only if the show is worth.

Furthermore, There are people who only watch it online and never go to theatre or cinema. There can be various reason, maybe because online does not cost money , or because they aren't into movies or show and only watch to kill the boredom, or cinemas or theatres never hold any significant meaning in their heart.

So , either its digital age or not, i don't think its about the convenience. Its about whether an individual is into it or not. If you like something, you go for it or else it doesn't matter. Tho, i fall under second category. I go to cinema or theatre only if i have a favorite lead or if storyline is something that relates to me. I usually watch it online because i am into drama show of korea , china , thai, and japanese. These shows aren't displayed in cinemas here in nepal , so watching online is the only way for people like me. I watch it in website called kissasian.co. My all favorite shows are uploaded there and i can watch it anytime as it remain there in website.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a personal view—that online viewing suits you, while some people still value going to a cinema or theatre—and include a relevant example from your experience in Nepal. However, the response only partly discusses the two views in the question. The reasons offered focus mainly on individual preference, cost and access, rather than explaining the economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas or why online entertainment may make them less important. The opening also paraphrases the topic without establishing a clear, direct position on both sides. To strengthen the response, explain each view explicitly, develop its consequences with specific examples, and state your own judgement clearly in the introduction and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable paragraph structure: an introduction, discussion of cinema-goers, discussion of online viewers, and a personal example. This gives the reader some organisation, and words such as “Furthermore” and “So” signal movement between ideas. However, the overall progression is limited because the paragraphs do not clearly develop the two contrasting arguments in the prompt, and the final paragraph repeats the idea that preference determines viewing habits. Some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “The statement, that…” and “So, either its digital age or not.” Improve cohesion by giving each body paragraph a clear purpose, using transitions that show contrast and cause, and linking the personal example directly to your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate basic ideas, including “digital age,” “cinemas,” “theatres,” “entertainment,” and “storyline.” The personal examples also make your meaning generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “entitled with many development,” “best quality and visuals,” and “kill the boredom.” Repetition of “watch,” “go,” and “favorite” also restricts precision. Aim to use more accurate expressions for the task’s economic and cultural themes, such as “support local employment” or “shared cultural experience,” and check collocations and word forms. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the arguments rather than relying mainly on general statements about preference.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If you like something, you go for it,” and the main ideas can usually be followed. However, errors are frequent, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “This have both pros and cons” has subject–verb disagreement, while “some still finds” and “people who continuously go … is” also use incorrect agreement. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries need attention: “watch it in online” and “some are people” are not well formed, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters or use commas awkwardly. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a subordinate clause, then check agreement, articles and punctuation.
