Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have different views about whether there will be no longer importance of theatres and cinema in modern world as people can enjoy it online or they still have their own value both economically and culturally. This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why i believe that traditional treatres and cinema are losing its value because every entertainment channel is available online.
On one side, most of the people argue that theatres and cinemas are still important because of their humour and talent, a lot of people enjoy it in their free time after a stressful day or unwind themselves from their hectic routine. For-example, live comedy shows are performed by various artists on the stage, that have ability to engage the attention of viewers. That ultimately leads to a positive impact on society as they amuse from the show. Moreover, it has a great role in economic growth as many public engaged, it will increase the revenue of the government funds.
On the other hand, as the advancements in the technology greatly increased, the more people enjoy to watch movies or videos on their smartphones at home rather than to go out, specially in a theatre or cinema. The main reason of this is that internet allow us to entertain remotely and access any kind of information about everthing. For-example, one of the most famous mobile application, Netflix offers a wide variety of movies on just one click. People usually prefer these options because generally it is free of cost or even very low subscription charges. Thats the reason, i believe that in digital age, these kind of cinemas and theatres are no longer important to public.
In conclusion, although cinemas and theatres are economically and culturally sound, I believe they become no longer important to public because of revolution of the technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and state a clear opinion: theatres and cinemas are “losing its value” because entertainment is available online. The examples of live comedy and Netflix are relevant, and you mention both cultural enjoyment and economic revenue. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for theatres is mainly about amusement and government revenue, with little explanation of their wider cultural role, while the online argument is more developed through convenience and cost. Some claims, such as that online entertainment is generally free, need qualification or support. To strengthen the response, explain each side more fully and make your reasoning about why online access outweighs theatres’ cultural and economic benefits more precise. The response meets the required length; eight words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On one side,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. This coherent arrangement supports the reader, although some linking is mechanical and a few references are unclear. For example, “it has a great role in economic growth” does not clearly identify whether “it” means theatres, performances, or public attendance. The sentence beginning “For-example” also joins the example to the preceding idea awkwardly. Use more precise referencing and connect examples to claims with clearer sentence boundaries; this would make cohesion smoother rather than relying mainly on standard transition phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “hectic routine,” “live comedy shows,” “economic growth,” “advancements in technology,” and “subscription charges.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but several inaccurate or unnatural expressions limit precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “their humour and talent,” “many public engaged,” “amuse from the show,” and “every entertainment channel.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “treatres” and “everthing” also reduce control. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe the appeal of live performances rather than attributing “humour and talent” to venues. A more precise vocabulary range would help distinguish cultural value, economic contribution, and online convenience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “although” and a reason clause with “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. For example, “internet allow us” needs subject–verb agreement, while “the more people enjoy to watch” has an incorrect comparative structure and verb pattern. In “it will increase the revenue,” the pronoun reference and conditional relationship are unclear. Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, including lowercase “i” and the comma splice in the live-comedy example. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them; greater control of these patterns would make your meaning consistently clear.
