Student answer (Band 6.5)
These days, people can watch various types of entertainmnet online because of the development of digital technology. Some individuals believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer necessary, while others argue that they remain important for economic and cultural reasons. this essay will discuss both perspectives, and i believe that theatres and cinemas are still valuable to society.
I will start by looking at some benefits for watching entertainment in online. the main advantage is that it saves time and offers convenience. people do not need to travel to cinemas or stand in queues to buy tickets. instead, they can watch their favorite movies at home whenever they want. In addition, online platforms provide a wide variety of films, television programmes and documentaries at affordable prices. For example, students and working professionals can enjoy entertainment at home after completing their daily responsibilities.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas continue to play an important role in society. Firstly, watching a flim on a large screen with high-quality sound provides a better experience than watching it on a mobile phone or television. Moreover, cinemas create employment opportunities for many people, including ticket sellers, technicians, cleaners and managers. They also generate income for theatre owners and contribute to the economy. Secondly, theatres help preserve cultural traditions by presenting live performances, dramas and other events. these activities allow people to appreciate their culture and connect with others.
in my opinion, although online entertainment is convenient, theatres and cinemas should nto disappear. btoh options have their own advantages, and people should be able to choose according to their preferences and budgets.
In conclusion, online entertainment saves time and provide flexibility, whereas theatres and cinemas offer a unique viewing experience, create jobs and uspport cultural activities. I believe that btoh forms of entertainment will continue to be important in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion: online entertainment is convenient, but theatres and cinemas remain valuable. Relevant support includes avoiding travel and queues, the large-screen experience, employment, and cultural events. This covers the task well, and your conclusion restates your position. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, you say cinemas “contribute to the economy” without showing how this benefit extends beyond the jobs already mentioned, while the cultural value of live performances could be illustrated with a specific example. The online perspective is also developed mainly through convenience and choice. More balanced explanation and concrete examples would make the discussion more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, your opinion, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience to the continuing social value of venues is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. Some linking is mechanical, however, particularly “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and the opinion paragraph repeats points already made rather than advancing the discussion. There are also inconsistent capital letters at the beginnings of sentences, which interrupt the presentation. To strengthen cohesion, use a wider range of natural links between claims and explanations, and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital technology,” “employment opportunities,” “cultural traditions,” and “live performances.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and there are attempts at more specific language such as “high-quality sound.” However, some wording is imprecise or awkward: “benefits for watching entertainment in online” and “provide a better experience” could be expressed more naturally. Spelling errors such as “entertainmnet,” “flim,” “nto,” and “uspport” also reduce accuracy, while repeated use of “important” and “entertainment” limits flexibility. Check spelling carefully and build more precise collocations for discussing access, economic impact, and cultural value.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “although online entertainment is convenient” and a relative clause in “people, including ticket sellers, technicians, cleaners and managers.” Most ideas remain understandable, and sentence boundaries are generally clear. Some grammatical errors persist, though. For example, “online entertainment saves time and provide flexibility” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “people can watch … because of the development” is less natural in its construction. Sentence-initial capitalization is also inconsistent, as in “this essay” and “people do not.” Aim to proofread agreement, articles, and capitalization, while continuing to use varied sentence structures accurately.
