Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both sides of the discussion: online viewing is presented as convenient and economical, while cinemas and theatres are linked to ticket income, taxes, and cultural experiences. Your example of friends choosing to see a popular film also supports the value of the cinema experience. However, the response does not clearly state your own overall opinion, and the cultural and economic points are asserted rather than explained with specific examples. The final sentence is unfinished, so the example and argument are left incomplete. The response is also 27 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop the discussion. To strengthen the response, state your position directly and explain each main point with a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to move from online entertainment to the continuing economic and cultural role of venues, and phrases such as “morever” and “so” signal some relationships between ideas. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, making the two views and your own position difficult to distinguish. Connections are often repetitive or unclear, and the final sentence stops mid-thought (“but when we”), disrupting the progression. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Use linking expressions to show contrast and cause more precisely, and ensure each paragraph develops one central idea before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “tickets,” “taxes,” “economy,” “culture,” and “experience,” so the reader can identify the main subject. However, the range is basic and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “theatres and cinemas” and “culture.” Frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices sometimes strain understanding, as in “mobies,” “drames,” “curisty,” and “socialism” where the context appears to call for “social values.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “grow our culture.” Build a more accurate range of topic language and check spelling carefully. More precise alternatives for discussing convenience, cultural preservation, and the shared experience of viewing would make the argument clearer and more academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining that ticket revenue is paid to the government as tax, and you use some simple sentence patterns that communicate the general topic. However, control is inconsistent: errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur throughout. Examples include “all types … material available,” “the amount … will be paid,” and “it increase our curiosity.” The opening sentence is especially difficult to follow because several clauses are joined without clear punctuation, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “while,” or “although.” Check subject–verb agreement and complete every sentence.
