Student answer (Band 6.0)
In our age seeing how digitalization took part in all parts of our life, it's natural that some people believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer needed as all sorts of entertainment are available online for everyone. However, i would argue that it depends on preferences as each option has its perks. For example, theatres deliver the message in a more natural and raw way. Seeing the actors directly and hearing them with your own ears and not through speakers or screens can make you understand the actors' emotions better. In addition, cinemas can provide an experience that is not available to everyone at home. A large and high quality screen and speakers that allow you to immerse yourself in the events of the movie. Furthermore, cinemas and theatres are great tourist destinations. People who travelled from abroad may want to see pieces that show the culture of the country that they are in and may want to try an aborad cinema experience as well. Therefore theatres and cinemas can help spread the culture of the country and also help it economically. On the other hand, not everyone enjoys outside activities and social places. For instance, introverts enjoy staying in their own home and comfort watching what they want online. It's also not limited to introverts, older people who can't move a lot, sick patients who can't get out of the hospital, or even people who just want to rest in the weekend. All these people would prefer to watch online and probably won't care about theatres or cinemas. In conclusion, i believe that both are important. People who prefer to stay in their own comfort will want to watch what they want online. And people who want to see live performances and like outside activities will choose to go to theatres or cinemas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion that theatres, cinemas, and online entertainment each suit different preferences. The discussion of live performance, cinema technology, tourism, and access for people who cannot easily go out is relevant. The response also begins to explain economic and cultural value through tourism and cultural performances, showing some of the fuller development expected beyond a basic response. However, the economic point is asserted rather than explained, and the online-view argument focuses mainly on convenience and accessibility rather than why digital entertainment may make venues less important. Develop these points with a specific example or clearer cause-and-effect reasoning to make the discussion more balanced and fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable progression: it introduces the issue, presents benefits of venues, considers reasons to watch at home, and concludes with your position. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help signal the main moves. However, the first body section combines several distinct ideas—live performance, cinema facilities, tourism, and economic impact—so the relationships between them are not always clear. The sentence beginning “A large and high quality screen…” is also a fragment, interrupting the flow. Group related points into clearer paragraphs and use referencing or transitions to show how each example supports the central claim, rather than relying mainly on a sequence of connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digitalization,” “immerse,” “tourist destinations,” and “live performances,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “raw way” and “pieces that show the culture,” though these are not always natural or precise in context. Some word choices and collocations reduce fluency: “took part in all parts of our life” is awkward, and “aborad cinema experience” contains a spelling error and unclear phrasing. Aim for more accurate collocations and avoid repeating broad terms such as “people” and “want.” More precise vocabulary for economic and cultural effects would also help you express the argument with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including clauses with “as,” “who,” and “that,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as the explanation of older people and patients who may prefer online viewing. However, errors occur in sentence construction and punctuation. “A large and high quality screen and speakers…” is a fragment, while “In our age seeing how…” lacks clear sentence structure. Capitalise “I” consistently, and check comma use in longer sentences, particularly where several examples are listed. The conclusion also repeats sentence patterns beginning with “People who…” and “And people who…”. Building complete sentences and varying clause structures more carefully would improve accuracy while preserving your range.
