Student answer (Band 5.5)
Theatres and cinemas have been an in existance since time immemorial and plays crutial role in the society. In this digital age and with the development of technology, some people argue that theatres and cinemas are no longer needed while others insist that they are of great importance both economically and culturally. In my opinion, believe these entities should be preserved and be kept in operation.
Digital advancements has made it easy for people to be entertained wherever they are. Individuals can access films and movies of their preferance right at the the comfort of their home. Lifestream services and applications provides a collection of entertainment options making life more easier and enjoyable. For instance, new movie can be watched at home once it is released without going to the theatres and cinemas alternatively saving time.
Although entertainment has been made easy without having to go to the cinemas, these recreational facilities are of immense value to the society. Economically, several people get employment, revenues collected and infrustructure development are achieved. For example, a place with cinemas leads to the creation of hotels and restaurants.Culturally, live performances and acting help in the preservation of cultures since the audience are able to act on set. Culture can be imitated best when one sees what needs to be done.
In my opinion, despite technological advances of the current world, theaters and cinemas should be allowed to thrive since they improve our life. Families get the opportunity to visit the places to unwind and bond.
In conclusion, whereas the advancement of technology has made life easier by having entertainment in our homes, these entertainment sports should be in operation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for keeping theatres and cinemas open. The online-entertainment paragraph gives relevant reasons, including convenience and saving time, while the following paragraph considers employment, revenue, infrastructure and cultural preservation. These points meet the task, but some are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that audiences can “act on set” is unclear, and the economic example of hotels and restaurants could be linked more explicitly to how cinemas generate local activity. Your opinion is present, but the final paragraph mainly adds family bonding rather than developing the cultural and economic reasons already introduced. Explain and support each key point more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for online entertainment, a paragraph supporting venues, a personal view and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument understandable. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated transitions such as “In my opinion” and “In conclusion,” and the final opinion paragraph repeats the position without connecting it closely to the earlier economic and cultural discussion. Some links between ideas are also unclear: the sentence about culture being imitated follows the point about live performances but does not explain the relationship fully. Use clearer referencing and develop each paragraph around a connected sequence of claim, explanation and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “digital advancements,” “employment,” “revenues,” “infrastructure development,” and “preservation of cultures.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both practical and cultural effects. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, and some expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “Lifestream services,” “entertainment sports,” and “act on set.” There are also errors in “existance,” “crutial,” “preferance,” and “infrustructure.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the general argument, but they reduce precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and choose established collocations, especially when explaining how venues benefit communities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although entertainment has been made easy” and a concluding “whereas” clause. The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “Digital advancements has made” should use a plural verb, and “applications provides” also has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening sentence lacks a clear article and verb structure, while “a place with cinemas leads to the creation of hotels and restaurants” is grammatically possible but would benefit from a more controlled explanation. Review agreement and article use, and proofread punctuation around sentence boundaries and spaces.
