Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this digital era, populations nowadays prefers to binge online rather than going outside and watch movies physically. I strongly believe that binge online is more reliable option than going to theaters and cinemas. In this essay we will discuss how theaters and cinemas no longer entertain the youth generation and is it impacting to the economy and culture or not, with the relavent examples in forthcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, majority of people used to be at home rather than going outside and enjoy. So, people prefers to watch movies to entertain themselves. First and formost, it provides the convenience to bing whenever and whatever we like to watch such as movies, news, podcasts or documentry. Moreover, it is easy to get subscribtion to enjoy the wide range of verities for entertainment. For example, platforms like netflix, sonyliv and amazon prime gives liverage to watch whatever we prefers.

However, in contradictory, people raise voice that theatres and cinemas are still crucial for both economy and culture because it leverage the culture of giving time to loved ones, families and childrens. Furthermore, it generates employment for the people in need. For example, it needs maintenace for cleaning and checking for the security of the theatre and cinems, which eventually generates employment.

In my opinion, both binge online and going to watch movies in theatre and cinemas are important but watching online nowadays for this generation is more convinient because of their busy life scedules.

Therefore, people should invest thier time according to their need and importance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a clear preference for online entertainment, especially in the opening and final opinion, and you include points relevant to both views: convenience and choice online, and employment and family experiences at cinemas. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The economic point is limited to cleaning and security jobs, while the cultural importance of theatres is asserted rather than explained with a specific cultural example. The online-view paragraph also focuses on convenience without considering why this may not make cinemas unimportant. Your position is present, but it could be more consistently reasoned: explain whether online viewing replaces or simply complements cinema-going, then support each side with fuller examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. For example, the first body paragraph moves from people staying at home to convenience and subscriptions, but the links between these points are not fully explained. Connectors such as “First and foremost,” “Moreover,” and “However” provide basic signposting, though some transitions feel mechanical, and “in contradictory” does not clearly express the intended contrast. The conclusion introduces a general recommendation about investing time according to need rather than drawing together the main arguments. Develop a clearer sequence of claim, explanation, and example in each paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “digital era,” “convenience,” “employment,” and “culture,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make the writing less natural. Phrases such as “binge online,” “gives leverage,” and “raise voice” do not express the intended meanings clearly; “binge” is also repeated. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “relavent,” “documentry,” “subscribtion,” and “maintenace.” Aim for precise expressions such as “stream content,” “offers access,” and “argue that,” and check spelling carefully. More varied, accurate vocabulary would help you explain the economic and cultural arguments with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a relative clause in “which eventually generates employment” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Nevertheless, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. For example, “populations nowadays prefers” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “it provides the convenience to bing whenever and whatever we like to watch” has an unclear grammatical structure. There are also problems with articles and plurals in “majority of people” and “families and childrens,” and the opening sentence contains an awkwardly joined question. Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, checking agreement, articles, and clause structure before adding complexity.
