Student answer (Band 5.0)
Although there is a considerable proportion of people who believe that in this digital age, theatres and cinemas don't have the importance because everyone can watch it online on their devices, while others argue that theatres and cinemas are still necassary both economically and culturally.
From my perspective, cinemas and theatres are still important both for our economy and culture. Theatres offers you an opportuninty to watch different artist acting in front of you. We have a previlage to watch all the entertainment like dramas, play and movies on our devices but cinemas plays an important role. One of the advantages include that it provides a big screen and a lot more vadvanced speakers. It also has a proper vibe to watch any sort of entertainment. For example, in this digital age we can watch anything on phones and laptops with the comfort of our homes.
Wheras, there is an argument about theatres and cinemas that they are still important for economy and culture. Cinemas and theatres provides multiple jobs for people, so it also effects economy in terms of jobs. There is a huge amount that has been generated from cinemas every year. It is also a source of joy that you watch the entertainment with your friends and family. For instance, I also used to go with my family to watch thrilled and comedy movies. Theatres are also a part of culture. It provides a lot of entertainments including educational play, short films etc.
In conclusion, digital age have made our life easier in a way that we can watch everything online. Cinemas and theatres are still important for our economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear opinion that cinemas and theatres remain important, and you include relevant points about employment, cultural value, the large screen and shared experiences. However, the discussion of the view that online entertainment makes venues less important is only briefly introduced; the example about watching at home does not explain why people might prefer online access or its advantages. The economic and cultural points are also asserted rather than fully supported, and the conclusion mainly repeats your position without bringing both views together. To strengthen the response, explain each side more evenly and develop your examples—for instance, how online viewing offers convenience, and how venues support local businesses or preserve live performance traditions. The response meets the stated length requirement; eight words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Your response has a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion, and the reader can identify your main position. However, the progression between ideas is not consistently clear. The first body paragraph begins with the benefits of theatres, then shifts to online viewing, while the next paragraph repeats that venues are important rather than clearly developing the opposing view. Connectors such as “Whereas” and “For instance” are used, but they do not always show the relationship between the ideas that follow. Some references, including “It provides” and “they,” are also unclear because the nouns they refer to are not always obvious. Organise one paragraph around the online-viewing argument and another around the economic and cultural case, using clearer links and references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “digital age,” “economy,” “culture,” “educational” and “generated.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise. For example, “a lot of entertainments” and “a proper vibe” are not natural choices in this context, while “a huge amount that has been generated” does not specify what is generated. Spelling errors such as “necassary,” “opportuninty” and “previlage” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully; phrases such as “revenue,” “employment opportunities” and “shared viewing experience” would help express your points more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening and examples introduced with “For instance.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. Subject–verb agreement is a recurring issue: “Theatres offers,” “cinemas plays” and “Cinemas and theatres provides” should use plural verb forms. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “Theatres are also a part of culture. It provides,” where the pronoun does not agree clearly with the plural subject. The conclusion’s “digital age have made” also needs a singular verb. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject, matching verb and consistent reference, while building more accurate complex sentences.
