Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and give a personal view, particularly in the conclusion, where you support the continuing value of cinemas and theatres. The economic point about jobs is relevant, and the online-viewing paragraph offers reasons such as convenience and saving travel time. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the cultural importance of shared viewing is mentioned mainly at the end, rather than explained in the body, and the claim about decoration, cafés and local markets is not clearly connected to the cultural or economic role of theatres. The survey example is also vague and does not provide convincing support. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or specific example, and state your position more directly in the introduction as well as the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the broad direction of the argument. However, connections within paragraphs are sometimes unclear or mechanical. For example, “Secondly, enhance market reputation…” does not clearly show how this point follows from job creation, and the sentence about “open streets, cafe and local market” is difficult to relate to the main argument. The conclusion also combines several ideas in one long sentence. Use clearer topic sentences, explain how each supporting point relates to the paragraph’s main idea, and use referencing and linking phrases more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “advancement in technology,” “economic growth,” “job opportunities,” and “discrimination.” This gives you some useful range, but control of word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling is inconsistent and sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “thertres,” “hetic schedules,” “safe their travel time,” and “valuable aspect inour life.” Some expressions, such as “entertainment houses,” are not natural in this context. Aim for accurate, familiar collocations before trying more elaborate phrasing, and proofread spelling and spacing carefully. More precise terms such as “venues,” “save time,” and “shared cultural experience” would help express your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, including a contrast between the two views and a reason introduced by “because.” However, many sentences contain errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction, which can make the reader pause. For example, “people prefers” should use a plural verb, while “these areas directly or indirectly boost economic growth and provided job opportunities” shifts verb form within the same structure. The opening also contains a sentence fragment after “as a result,” and punctuation is often missing around clauses. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check subject–verb agreement and consistent verb forms. This will make your ideas easier to understand.
