Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, accessing latest movies and web series through internet is very common. People can easily access any movie world wide and watch online. This arises the debate for importance of theatres and cinemans in digital age. While some people consider theatres and movie halls unimporant, other people argue that they play an important role in culture and supports film industry financially.
Nowadays, most of the movies and series are available over internet for free or through minimal subscription rates. Even many pirated sites offer latest and unrelased movies free of cost. This significantly effects the market and earnings of movie industry. A lot of resources are efforts are required to create a single movie. After digitalization, a massive decrease in the earnings of film industries is seen, and also resulted in the shutdown of many production companies. This sector is not seen economically profitable as before.
This change had also affected the culture negatively. Watching movies from around the globe is now much easier as the cinemas mostly host local or very few international movies. This influenced people a lot, specially the younger generation. Now children after wathcing global contents are fascinated by the foreign culture and forget their roots and culture. Thus, Local cinema halls play an important role in spreading the local culture via screening local movies and shows.
This digital change has positive sides too, through digitalization accessing movies of different languages and from different countries is much easier now. It can help to learn different languages which can be helpful in career growth and communication as well. Watching movies earlier needed planning and booking seats. With this shift and online availibility, a person can watch any movie regardless of any prior booking. He/ She can also pause and also adjust the playing speed which saves a lot of time.
In conclusion, knowing that there are many positive effects of digitalization of movies like it saves time and moeny, but I personally believe that it had alo negatively impacted the economy and culture, so they plays an important roles as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both perspectives and give a clear final view: online access is convenient, but cinemas remain important for the economy and local culture. The discussion of piracy and reduced industry earnings is relevant, as is the contrast between global online content and local cinema. However, some claims are broad or insufficiently supported, such as saying children “forget their roots” and that production companies have shut down; a specific example or more cautious explanation would make these points more convincing. The benefits of online viewing are also explained, but the opposing view that theatres retain economic and cultural value could be developed more evenly. To strengthen the response, explain how cinemas support jobs, shared experiences, or local filmmaking, and connect each example directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs on the effects of online viewing, a paragraph on its benefits, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of discussion easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “This change,” “Thus,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, the progression within paragraphs is less controlled. For example, the paragraph about economic effects moves from piracy to production costs and then to company closures without explaining the links in detail. The conclusion also combines several points in one sentence, making the final position less clear. Use more precise referencing and transitions, and organise each body paragraph around one main claim supported by explanation and an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “subscription rates,” “pirated sites,” “production companies,” “local culture,” and “career growth.” These choices allow you to discuss both the economic and cultural dimensions of the topic. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable, including “cinemans,” “unimporant,” “unrelased,” “effects” where “affects” is intended, and “availibility.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “a lot of resources are efforts” and “digitalization of movies.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main ideas, but they limit precision and fluency. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common collocations for film and entertainment, such as “box-office revenue” and “access content online.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including contrast clauses (“While some people consider…”) and cause-and-effect sentences (“This significantly effects the market…”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “other people argue that they play an important role in culture and supports” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “they plays an important roles” contains agreement and plural errors. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “accessing latest movies” and “A lot of resources are efforts are required.” The sentence beginning “In conclusion, knowing that…” is awkwardly formed and obscures the relationship between the concession and your opinion. Practise checking agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
