Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people believe that there is no importance of theatres and cinemas as peope can watch all the stuff online in this digital age. However other argues that entertainment that theatre halls and cinemas centre are still important for economy and culture. I believe that the importance of watching entertainment through movie theatre has reduced and there is no need of it. I will discuss both views in this essay below.

On the one hand, most people think that most of the entertainment content is now available digitally. Actually, almost all the entertainment content is available digigtally than on cinema. For instance, people have to pay small charges to subcribe to a platform such as netflix or prime video which then provide millions of content which can be watched anywhere without going to movie hall or cinema. In the age of digital advancement, majority of the people enjoy to watch content on their devices rather than travelling and watching it on particular place. Secondly, digital contents are more cost effective than watching movies in theatre. It reduces the cost of ticket and you can watch anything free digitally.

On the other hand, there is an argument that cinemas and theatre plays very crutial role in growth of economy. They also believe that cinemas and theatres are part of culture and brings employement opportunity for local workers which will ultimately grow economy. However, The digital platforms also provide different perks to movie owner when they upload content on their platform.

In conclusion, Many people still prefer movie hall for entertainment than watching it at home, But I believe technology has evolved at lot and in the upcoming future people preferences will be changed and they will be more dependant on digital device rather than cinema,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a clear opinion that online entertainment has reduced the need for cinemas, and you include points about convenience, cost, employment and cultural value. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the case for online viewing receives several supporting details, while the opposing view is mostly asserted. For example, you say cinemas create jobs and contribute to the economy, but do not explain how or give a concrete example. The cultural importance is mentioned but not illustrated, and the point that digital platforms benefit film owners is left unclear. To strengthen the response, explain both sides more evenly and make your position consistent in the conclusion, which currently shifts to predicting future preferences rather than directly restating your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive or unclear: “most people think that most of the entertainment content” repeats an idea, and “However” introduces the digital-platform point without clearly showing how it relates to the argument about cinemas. The conclusion also contrasts current preferences with a prediction, rather than neatly drawing together the discussion. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and ensure pronouns and references identify their subject precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital advancement,” “cost effective,” “culture,” and “employment opportunity.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems that make the expression less precise, such as “peope,” “digigtally,” “subcribe,” and “crutial.” Some phrases are awkward or repetitive, including “all the entertainment content” and “movie theatre,” while “different perks” is vague in this context. Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and choose specific terms when discussing economic or cultural effects. For instance, explain what benefits platforms provide to filmmakers rather than relying on the general word “perks.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a platform … which then provide millions of content” and a conditional-style explanation of how digital viewing works. However, errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation, and some sentences are difficult to process. Examples include “other argues” instead of a plural verb, “theatre halls and cinemas centre are,” and “cinemas and theatre plays.” The sentence beginning “For instance” also has a long, loosely connected structure. Practise subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and divide long sentences into clearer units. Check capitalisation after full stops and avoid joining contrasting clauses with commas.
