Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is a conflicting views between people about that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch their fav movies or series on internet. some peple thinks that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. I am partly agree with both statements because now people can watch online anything online for thier entertainment but theatres and cinemas remains still popular.

In the digital age , people have many options for entertainment . For example, we can watch movies though OTT platforms like Prime video and Hotstar and many more. As a result least people go out for watching movies in the theatres and cinema but theatres and cinema remains popular because the screen and the sound effect in the theatres and cinemas kept people on their edge of seat. many people go out with friends and family on the occassions like birthday party. It is a good way of spending quality time with family and friends.

From my prespective many people nowdays prefer watching movies at home on their mobile phones and laptops. Because they have more space for themselves to enjoy thier quality time as a result there is no interfarence of anyone. Apart from this many prefer wacthing movies in the theatres and cienmas with their close ones. Instance they have opportunities to spend qulity time with them.

In conclusion, no doubt there are many advantage in the digital age. People can watch any movies or series at their homes and some prefer watching movies outside therie homes but it is also neccesery to maintain the balance between economically and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify both views and give a personal position, saying you “partly agree,” and you mention online viewing as well as the cinema’s screen, sound and social experience. However, the discussion is only partial: the economic importance of theatres and cinemas is not explained, and the cultural aspect is reduced to spending time with family or friends. Several points are repeated rather than supported with specific reasons or examples, so the position and main ideas remain under-developed. The conclusion’s call to “maintain the balance” is not clearly explained. The response is also 246 words, below the 250-word minimum; 27 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop both sides more fully, especially the economic and cultural arguments, and clarify your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can generally follow the shift from online entertainment to cinema-going. You also use basic linking expressions such as “For example,” “As a result” and “Apart from this.” However, progression within paragraphs is weak: the first body paragraph moves from streaming platforms to cinema sound and then social occasions without clearly connecting these points. The second body paragraph repeats the contrast rather than advancing the discussion. Some linking phrases are awkward or unclear, including “Instance” and “as a result,” while repeated use of “but” and “because” makes cohesion mechanical. Organise each paragraph around one clear argument and use references and transitions that show how each example supports it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main subject, including “OTT platforms,” “entertainment,” “screen,” “sound effect” and “quality time.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “on their edge of seat.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear: “least people go out,” “kept people on their edge of seat” and “maintain the balance between economically and culturally.” Spelling errors are noticeable, including “prespective,” “occassions” and “interfarence,” and repeated words such as “popular” and “quality time” reduce variety. Build a more precise range for discussing economic effects and cultural value, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using clauses with “because,” “as a result” and “while,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in sentence boundaries, agreement and clause construction. For example, “There is a conflicting views” has incorrect agreement, while “some people thinks” also mismatches the subject and verb. The opening paragraph contains several sentences beginning with lowercase letters, and “Because they have more space…” is a fragment in this context. Some sentences run together, such as the one beginning “As a result least people go out,” making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and punctuation, and make sure dependent clauses are joined to complete sentences.
