Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is contend that in modern era of digital advancements, people have leisure of watching any entertainment programms online, so it is not necessary going to theatres and cinemas now. While others believe importance of these movies and playhouses is still there as they influence our culture and economy. I will elaborate my point in the further essay.
In the past, people used to seek ways to have fun. Discovery of the arts made it possible for them to entertain themselves and others. Theatres and cinemas have become a way to share their culture. Also, these two sectors have created new employment opportunities for people. Even today, a lot of people make money from cinema and theatre businesses. As the effects of them on people's lives should not be overlooked, I think they are essential.
However, technology is changing everything, including the entertainment business. Since it is easier and much cheaper to access online entertainment, they tend to use technology instead of going to theatres or cinemas. Also, people choose online entertainment because they want to save time, which is important for their busy work life. Although using technology to have fun might seem like a good idea, there are some drawbacks. Consequences such as internet addiction might occur. And preserving cultural heritage might be difficult since things on the internet might not be as informative as theatre or cinema.
In summary, choosing online entertainment could be beneficial for both time and money management. However, going to theatres or cinemas might help protect cultural traditions and the country's economic growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the discussion and gives a clear overall view: theatres and cinemas remain essential, while online entertainment offers convenience and lower costs. Relevant reasons include employment and cultural sharing, as well as saving time and money. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that online content may be “not as informative as theatre or cinema” is unclear, and the link between internet addiction and the comparison of entertainment options could be developed further. The conclusion restates the contrast but does not sharpen the writer’s position on how the two forms should coexist. Explaining one or two examples in greater depth would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on the cultural and economic value of theatres and cinemas, a paragraph on online entertainment, and a conclusion. The progression is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “However” and “In summary” help identify shifts. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical. “I will elaborate my point in the further essay” is a formulaic transition, while “And preserving cultural heritage might be difficult” begins a sentence with a connector that does not clearly show how this point follows from the previous one. The reference in “the effects of them” is also vague. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and make each paragraph’s central argument explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing the topic, with relevant terms such as “employment opportunities,” “cultural heritage,” “internet addiction,” and “economic growth.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, including “should not be overlooked.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “leisure of watching,” “these two sectors,” and “the effects of them” do not express the intended ideas naturally. “Entertainment programms” also contains a spelling error, and “playhouses” is not an appropriate substitute for cinemas and theatres in this context. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and use topic-specific terms consistently; this will make the argument clearer without requiring more complicated vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex structures, including a conditional clause (“Since it is easier and much cheaper…”) and a concessive clause beginning “Although.” Most sentences communicate their meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “It is contend” has an incorrect verb form, and “in modern era” is missing an article. In “it is not necessary going to theatres,” the structure after “necessary” is faulty; use “it is not necessary to go.” The sentence “Discovery of the arts made it possible…” also needs an article before “discovery.” There is some control of longer sentences, but greater accuracy with articles, verb forms, and infinitive patterns is needed. Check sentence boundaries as well, particularly the fragment-like “And preserving cultural heritage might be difficult.”
