Student answer (Band 5.5)

Different ways of having entertaiment is now a big debate among the youngsters that, in the era of digitalization, either theater and cinema still have importance or it replaced with online platforms.

In modern world, there is no any doubt online platforms of having entertainment affect cinemas and theatres, because everyone has smart phones and laptops in their hands. They also have access to the internet. Futhermore there are also so many online platforms are now available on the internet, for example, Netflix and Spotify, where people can have alot of movies and music from all over the world with minimum fee. People usualy love to watch movies and music on their smart phones at their houses, because they find these platform more cheaper then the cinemas and theater. People also have very harsh work routine in their offices which makes them enable to go to cinema or theatres for having entertainment. With these reason, alot of people now prefare online platforms and entertainment companies also launches their project like movies or show on online platforms because of huge audience on online platforms.

On the other side, alot of people love to go cinema with their children and family for the movies. People are now fade up with their working hours in their daily life, so they go for the cinema on weekends with friends and family for having entertainment which gives them feeling of happiness, because they spends quality time with their families or friends. However cienmas and theatres also generate huge income in the form of tickets, snacks and other things for children, which is economically good.

In my opinion, Cinemas and theatres are still so important because people some places foe enjoyment. For example, whenever I find my self free, I go cinema with my friends for having fun. We enjoy alot at cinema. Thereafter we can give more potential to our work because we do relax our self with eacother at cinema in the form of gossips and watching movies etc. So importance of cinemas and theatres are still present.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and give a personal view, so the response addresses the main parts of the task. The online-entertainment paragraph gives relevant reasons, including convenience, lower cost and busy work routines, while the cinema paragraph mentions family outings and ticket and snack revenue. Your own example of going with friends also makes your position clear. However, the cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not really explored, and the economic point is only briefly stated. Some claims, such as people preferring online platforms because they are cheaper, would be stronger with a specific example or fuller explanation. Develop both sides more evenly and explain why shared, in-person entertainment has cultural value.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting online entertainment, a contrasting paragraph about cinemas, and a conclusion stating your opinion. Transitions such as “On the other side” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the shift between views. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated use of “People” and “because,” and several ideas are joined into long sentences. The conclusion also introduces the idea that cinemas provide relaxation and conversation without clearly linking it back to the earlier discussion. Use a wider range of linking methods, make each paragraph’s main point explicit, and use clearer referencing so that connections between ideas are easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “online platforms,” “audience,” “generate huge income,” and “quality time,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less natural. Examples include “different ways of having entertaiment,” “more cheaper,” “harsh work routine,” and “give more potential to our work.” There are also repeated general words such as “people,” “important,” and “entertainment,” and spelling errors such as “usualy” and “prefare.” Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing cultural and economic effects, and check spelling and common word combinations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses explaining reasons with “because” and a relative clause in “work routine … which makes them enable to go.” This shows some effort to vary sentence structure, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “there are also so many online platforms are now available” has an incorrect clause structure, while “People … spends” and “companies also launches” show subject–verb agreement problems. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “go cinema” and the long sentence beginning “People usualy love to watch.” Practise building accurate clauses and checking agreement, articles, and punctuation before adding complexity.
