Student answer (Band 6.0)

A group of people believe that in digital world, theatres and cinemas have lost their importance as all the entertainment is easily avaliable online. In comparsion, the opposite side says that they are still valuable for both the economical and cultural values. This essay agrees with the idea that they are equally important.

Firstly, the people believe that the theatres and cinemas has lost their importance because now adays everything is avaliable online. We can watch our favorite shows and movies on a single platform while being anywhere in the world such as the netflix. Similar way, we can see that today many organization are developing their own platforms where people can entertain their self as they have a numbers of series beloging to different genre which can be explored at the same time. Where as, for the theatres we have to book an appointment first and then if the movie or show wasn't up to our liking, we may feel that our time and money have been wasted. These different aspects have played a role in having negative effect on their reputation.

Meanwhile, the theatres and cinemas can also be an important part of our lives as we can see today, everyone is busy in their strict routine and barely manages time for their family. These theatres and plays provide an opportunity for a healthy environment and human interaction away from busy daily routine and stress. Futhermore, these plays can also help us to understand and remind us of our cultural identity and also helps your country economically. For instance, here in Pakistan every year the Sindhi Cultural Day is celebrated and cultural plays are held at Port Grand Karachi, to remind us about our identity along with raising a great amount from the ticket sales contribution towards the economy.

In Conclusion, threaters may don't have the same value as before due to the advancement in technology. Whereas, it is also believed they still have an important role in our lives by helping us in understanding our values. In my opinion, Technology may have advanced but their value will always be there.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state your position clearly: online entertainment is convenient, but theatres and cinemas retain value. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including access from anywhere and the risk of wasting money on an unsuitable show. The second develops social, cultural and economic benefits, with the Sindhi Cultural Day example adding useful local detail. This covers the task well, though some points are asserted more than explained: for example, the claim that venues help the economy would be stronger with a clearer explanation of how ticket sales support jobs or businesses. Your conclusion restates your view, but could more directly weigh the two sides. More consistent development of each main idea would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience to the social and cultural role of venues is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Meanwhile,” and “In Conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, some links feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely. “Similar way” and “Where as” introduce points awkwardly, while the long sentence beginning “Similar way” contains several ideas that would be clearer if separated. References such as “they” in the conclusion could also be more explicit. Use transitions selectively and make the connection between each example and its supporting claim clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the issue, including “digital world,” “platform,” “cultural identity,” and “human interaction.” The Pakistan example also gives your language a relevant, specific context. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “avaliable,” “comparsion,” “beloging,” and “threaters.” Some phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “economical and cultural values,” “book an appointment,” and “raising a great amount from the ticket sales contribution.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they limit the range and naturalness of expression. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for discussing access, cultural value, and economic contribution.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if the movie or show wasn't up to our liking” and a relative clause describing platforms. The main argument remains understandable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “the theatres and cinemas has lost” should use a plural verb, and “everyone … barely manages time” needs a more natural grammatical construction. In the conclusion, “may don't have” combines incompatible forms; use “may not have.” There are also inconsistent pronouns in “help us … helps your country.” Aim for more reliable control of these patterns, and divide overloaded sentences so that complex ideas remain grammatically clear.
