Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people argue that in this digital age, theatres and cinemas are not needed, because people can watch them in online through TV, smartphones and laptops. I strongly disagree with the statement, because the theatres and cinemas are still important in present age for both economically and culturally.
On one hand, some people say as the new technnology increasing day by day, there is no need of theatres and cinemas, as we can watch all entertainments from home with convient without going outside. For example, we have OTT platforms like amazon prime video, netflix and verious TV channels to watch movies and entertainment programs from home.
On the other hand, some people say having theatres and cinemas are important for both economically and culturally. For example, we can go out with friends and family to theatres and cinemas for relaxation and enjoy purpose and it is good for metal health also.
In my opinion, I would say theatres and cinemas are very much important in this generations also, because in this new digital age where everything is available in seconds to our door step with just one click from smartphone which making us very lazy and by going out to theatres for watching movies and cinemas give different experiences and chillout with friends and family and create memories with them.
Finally, i conclude that theatres and cinemas are very much important in this digital age also, for both economical and cultural aspect.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear opinion—“I strongly disagree”—and include a paragraph for each view, so the response is relevant to the discussion. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the online-entertainment view is illustrated with streaming services, while the case for theatres relies mainly on socialising and relaxation. The task also specifically mentions economic and cultural importance, but these points are asserted rather than explained; for example, you do not show how cinemas support jobs or preserve shared cultural experiences. The conclusion repeats your position without adding support. The response is 8 words below the required minimum, and the limited development makes the discussion feel incomplete. Explain each view with a reason and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs beginning “On one hand” and “On the other hand,” your opinion, and a conclusion. These signposts make the discussion easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some linking is mechanical: “For example” introduces a single illustration in each view, while the opinion paragraph repeats the idea that theatres are important without clearly building on the earlier points. The reference in “we can watch them” is also unclear because “them” could refer to theatres or entertainment. To strengthen cohesion, connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports and use clearer references and transitions between the discussion and your own position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main topic, with relevant terms such as “digital age,” “OTT platforms,” “economically,” and “culturally.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, or collocation problems make the expression less natural. Examples include “watch them in online,” “all entertainments,” “for relaxation and enjoy purpose,” and “chillout.” There are also spelling errors such as “technnology,” “convient,” and “verious.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they reduce precision and sometimes interrupt fluency. Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases, such as “streaming services,” “economic contribution,” and “a shared viewing experience,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a contrast introduced by “where.” The main message remains understandable, but control is inconsistent, and several sentence patterns are faulty. For example, “theatres and cinemas are not needed, because people can watch them in online” has an unclear object and an incorrect preposition; “having theatres and cinemas are important” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “which making us very lazy” is not a complete, correctly formed clause. The long opinion sentence also joins several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them with conjunctions, and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
