Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people theaters and cinemas are still play important role in our lifes. Meanwhile, other argue that digital media has took the place of theaters and cinemas. However, I believe that digital media can provide more entertainment ansd have more advantages.

On the one hand, the supportes of the theaters and cinemas believe that it provides more entertainment. As cineams and theaters has vast area nad relatively a big screen to attract the audience. Take an example of Japan where a double stands cinema was build in 1963, which covered the whole population of tokyo and individuals of that city made a record to attend the theater show in a large number. Thus, the supporters of this view support their findings back their analysis with valid arguments.

On the other hand, the advocates of the digital media believe that it can provides freedom. As you can play any movie or music at any time however, you are in bus or at office. Take an example of Germany, where a survey was conducated in 1978, which revealed that the 85 percent of the total population support the digital media as a mode of entertainment. Hence, this view also seems to carry a lot wheightage.

However, I believe that online mode of enjoyment has more benefits as compared to the watch the movie physically at cinema or theater for the purpose of entertainment. As online sources are lenient to use and it also saves lot of time.

To sumup, even though theaters and cinemas still are the sources of entertainment but I believe that enjoyment through online resources carries a lot of support.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a clear overall preference for online entertainment, especially in the introduction and conclusion, and you attempt to discuss both sides. However, the task is only partly addressed because the arguments are limited and not sufficiently developed. The cinema-side example about Japan is difficult to interpret and does not clearly show why theatres matter culturally or economically; the Germany survey is also asserted without explaining its relevance. The prompt specifically asks about economic and cultural importance, but these aspects are barely explored. Develop each view with a clear reason and a relevant, explained example, then make your own position consistent and more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” help signal this organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and some connections feel mechanical. For example, “Thus, the supporters of this view support their findings back their analysis” repeats the same point without advancing the argument, while “As you can play any movie…” is an incomplete explanation after the preceding claim. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports. Avoid repeating a view in place of explaining its significance.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “digital media,” “audience,” “mode of entertainment,” and “online sources,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to follow. Phrases such as “a lot of wheightage,” “double stands cinema,” and “support their findings back their analysis” are unclear or unnatural. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “cineams,” “conducated,” and “sumup.” Aim for precise, natural expressions rather than repeating broad terms such as “entertainment” and “support.” Proofread spelling and check unfamiliar phrases in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “where” and “which,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “other argue” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, “digital media has took” uses an incorrect verb form, and “cinemas and theaters has” also has agreement problems. The sentence “As you can play any movie or music at any time however, you are in bus or at office” is incomplete and has unclear clause structure. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check verb forms, agreement, and punctuation before adding subordinate clauses.
