Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say that in modern age with advancement in digital devices, theatre and cinemas are not needed as people can watch everything they want in single click. Some believes that theatres and cinemas are important as they represent culture and good for economy.

both views are valid but I think the latter holds more importance. With the advancement in the technology, everything is available via single click. It is all because of internet. Mobile phone has replaced everything. Every game, entertainment, work has shifted online. People can watch drama or show whenever they are free. They don't have to wait for watching something. In cinemas, people have to take time from routine, book tickets and means to go to these places but online there is no restriction of time, transport or money.

Some people believe that watching something online is not as fun as going to cinema. Its like an outing or family time. People usually watch online which is like routine but spare some time and go out will keep the relation fresh.

Economically, theatres and cinemas should be visited to understand culture and taking positive step towards economy.

In conclusion, both views have their own benefits and losses but taking some time to be fresh requires visiting tese entertaining sites.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state a preference for the importance of theatres and cinemas, so the response is relevant to the question. The explanation of online viewing is clearer: it offers convenience and avoids travel, ticket booking and time restrictions. However, the case for cultural and economic importance is only briefly asserted in “represent culture and good for economy,” without explaining how venues support culture or local employment. The point about cinema as family time adds a relevant social benefit, but it is not developed with a specific example. The conclusion repeats the preference rather than drawing the discussion together. The response is also 37 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support the ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, discussion of online entertainment, a point about cinema as an outing, and a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression between the two views is not consistently clear. The sentence beginning “Economically” introduces a new point but does not explain or connect it to the earlier discussion, and the cultural and economic arguments are compressed into one line. Cohesive links such as “but” and “In conclusion” are present, yet relationships between ideas are sometimes unclear or repetitive. Develop each view in a separate, focused paragraph and use linking phrases to show contrast and cause and effect more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “advancement,” “routine,” “culture” and “economically.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, which makes parts of the argument harder to follow. For example, “everything is available via single click” and “good for economy” do not express the ideas in natural academic English. “Taking positive step towards economy” is also vague, while “entertaining sites” is not an appropriate term for theatres and cinemas. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and accurate collocations, such as describing venues as supporting local businesses or preserving cultural experiences. Check spelling as well, including “tese.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing relies mainly on short, simple sentences, with only limited attempts to combine ideas into more complex structures. Some sentences are understandable, but frequent errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For instance, “Some believes” should be “Some believe,” and “theatre and cinemas” needs consistent plural forms. In “People can watch drama or show,” the nouns require articles or plural forms. The sentence “In cinemas, people have to take time from routine, book tickets and means to go” is structurally unclear, particularly in the list of actions. Capitalisation is also inconsistent at the start of “both views.” Practise accurate sentence patterns and proofread for agreement and articles.
