Student answer (Band 5.5)
Entertainment has become a widely debated issue in recent years. While some people believe that in the digital age, theaters and movies are not required because they can watch all the stuff they want online. However, others argue that theatersand cinemas are still vital for both economic as well as cultural growth. This essay will discuss both perspectives befor giving my opinion.
On the one hand, supporters of online platforms argue that theaters and cinemas are no longer important to have entertainment. The main explanation for this is that nowadays most of the people are watching everything online in OTT platforms from home. For instance, Netflix is a online platform where we can find many kind of shows. In addition, they can watch it from home rather than going out, meaning that they can additionally save time and money which need to be spend on travel.
On the other hand, those in favor of theaters and cinemas argue that they are still important for both economically and culuturally. This is particularly important because watching in theaters gives a lot information which we can not experice it any where, also the amount we pay will motivate them to make more movies which promotes the culture. For example, Movies made from the old culture will give an overview for the present generation. Furthermore, the money we spend on cinemas will result in the economy and profits generated by the movie.
In my opinion, watching in theaters and cinemas is the more convincing view. This is mainly because we can experience it in a good way. For example, we can watch it with family and spend time with them. Additionally, we get to know about the culture, which further supports this position.
In conclusion, i would say watching in online platfor

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state your preference for theatres and cinemas, so the response is relevant to the task. The online-view paragraph gives practical reasons—watching at home and saving travel time and money—and the opposing paragraph mentions cultural value and economic benefits. However, these points are often asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that cinema viewing gives “a lot information” is unclear, and the economic link between ticket spending and the wider economy needs development. Your opinion is present, but the conclusion is cut off (“watching in online platfor”), leaving the final position incomplete. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and finish with a complete conclusion that directly answers the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion paragraph, and a conclusion opening. This helps the reader follow the broad discussion, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” are relevant. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weak, with ideas joined by “In addition” and “Furthermore” without clearly showing how they relate. The introduction’s “While … However” construction is awkward, and the final sentence stops mid-idea, disrupting the overall ending. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, make references such as “them” unambiguous, and complete the conclusion by briefly summarising both views and your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “online platforms,” “culture,” “generation,” and “economy.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “profits generated by the movie.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “all the stuff,” “important to have entertainment,” and “watching in theaters gives a lot information.” Spelling errors such as “culuturally,” “experice,” and “platfor” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully; for example, explain cultural value as preserving or presenting traditions rather than using a vague claim about information.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “Netflix is a online platform where we can find…” and a reason clause beginning “This is mainly because…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include the faulty opening pattern “While … However,” the article error “a online platform,” and “the amount we pay will motivate them,” where the subject and reference are not clearly controlled. There are also problems with verb forms and sentence construction in “which need to be spend on travel” and “watching in theaters gives a lot information which we can not experice it.” Practise accurate clause structure, articles, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence.
