Student answer (Band 4.5)
It is often argued that due to the development of digital appliances, theatres and cinemas are more important because individuals can watch online all the activities, while others believe that they are still crucial for country's economy and culture. Although both perspectives have their own merits I believe that theaters and cinemas should be closed becouse youngsters prefer watching movies and other documentries in their personal tools.
On the one hand, supporters of cinemas argue that theatres help to reduce stress level. This is mailnly because when individuals spend their quality time with their family members during visit of cinema houses, they share their experiences with them. These visits help them to minimize their anxiety issues, and they also encourage them to make more fun with siblings. For instance, people in metropolitan areas usally

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response makes an attempt to discuss the two views and gives a personal position: you mention cinemas helping people reduce stress, then state that they should be closed because young people prefer online entertainment. However, the discussion is only minimally developed. The economic and cultural importance named in the prompt is not addressed, and the opposing view is represented mainly through one point about family visits. The example beginning “people in metropolitan areas” is unfinished, so it does not support the idea. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, leaving major parts of the task unanswered. Develop both sides with relevant reasons and examples, and explain your own position more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt at organisation: the opening introduces the topic and your opinion, and “On the one hand” signals the start of a supporting paragraph. Some links between ideas are also clear, such as the explanation that cinema visits can reduce anxiety. However, the response ends abruptly in the middle of an example, and there is no developed paragraph for the other view or a conclusion. As a result, ideas do not form a complete, coherent progression. The opening sentence also combines the two positions in a confusing way, making it difficult to tell which view is being attributed to whom. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, with clear topic sentences and a concluding summary.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “development of digital appliances,” “crucial,” “reduce stress level,” and “anxiety issues,” which shows an attempt to discuss the topic beyond very basic language. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “watch online all the activities,” “personal tools,” and “make more fun with siblings.” Spelling errors such as “becouse,” “mailnly,” “usally,” and “documentries” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Aim for precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, use “stream films online,” “personal devices,” and “spend enjoyable time with siblings.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, particularly the opening sentence and the clause beginning “This is mainly because…”. Some sentence patterns communicate the intended meaning, and the use of “Although” shows an attempt to vary structure. However, control is inconsistent. In “Although both perspectives have their own merits I believe…,” a comma is needed after the introductory clause. The phrase “during visit of cinema houses” has an incomplete article pattern, and “they also encourage them” has an unclear pronoun reference. The opening sentence is also difficult to follow because its clauses do not clearly express the contrast. Practise accurate complex sentences, punctuation after introductory clauses, and clear pronoun references.
