Student answer (Band 6.0)
Certain people beleives that in present time, theatres and cinemas are not important as people watch all the entertainment online while others opposes these views saying that cinemas and theatres are still culturally and economically important.
In my view these both statement carries their own outcomes, as in modern era, due to technological advancements it is very easy to watch any entertainment online without physically going to theatres or cinemas, it is more convinient for people as they can watch anytime and they do not need to rush through the traffic and other problems. While the other side is that a lot of people depends on cinemas and theatres for their living, either working directly or indirectly in these fields, also local folks carry a traditional heritage which must be preserved.
Firstly due to availability of entertainment content it is more easier to access any content anytime, which helps people with a busy schedule more flexible solutions. I have a very busy schedule and going to theatre takes more than 3 hours, but due to online entertainment i can watch any movie from my home and i can pause and continue from there the next day. Also it helps people the headache to reach the theatre on time, knowing that we can start it anytime people feels relaxed.
On the other hand if these local cinems and theatres are closed then many people will loose their jobs. Also indirectly other things will be affected such as tax revenue and social engagement. Additionally some local folks such as Ragni, Loor dance have significant importance in traditional culture it connects us with our ancestors and their rituals .
Concluding we can say that although theatres and cinemas lost their significance due to online platforms, but these are still important for us contributing economically and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both perspectives and gives a personal view: online viewing is presented as convenient, while cinemas and theatres support employment and preserve cultural traditions. The personal example about a busy schedule helps explain the first argument, and the references to tax revenue and local dance forms add relevant support to the second. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction says both views have their own outcomes, while the conclusion says venues have lost their significance, despite arguing that they remain important. The economic and cultural points are also less developed than the convenience argument. Clarify your overall position and explain more specifically how these venues benefit communities to make the discussion more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and personal position to the case for online entertainment, then the opposing view and a conclusion. Paragraphing generally helps the reader follow the two sides, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “Concluding” make the progression visible. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening paragraph combines your position with several supporting points, and the conclusion’s claim that venues have “lost their significance” conflicts with the preceding argument that they remain important. Some ideas within paragraphs are joined in long sequences with “also,” which makes the relationships feel mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “technological advancements,” “tax revenue,” “social engagement,” and “traditional culture.” These choices allow you to discuss convenience as well as economic and cultural value. However, the range is uneven, and several noticeable spelling, word-form, or collocation errors reduce precision: “convinient,” “local cinems,” “loose their jobs,” and “helps people the headache” are examples. Some phrasing is also vague, such as “these both statement carries their own outcomes.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for employment, cultural preservation, and online access would help you express the ideas with greater flexibility without changing your clear overall meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts both simple and more complex structures, including a contrast with “while” and conditional reasoning in “if these local cinems and theatres are closed then many people will loose their jobs.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Certain people beleives” should use a plural subject with a plural verb, and “these both statement carries” has mismatched number and agreement. The sentence beginning “While the other side is that…” is an incomplete construction, while “people feels relaxed” also has subject–verb disagreement. Review sentence boundaries and build complete clauses before adding supporting details. Greater control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts clearer and more accurate.
