Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern era significant portion of population consume content like movies and documentries mainly through internet. It is argued by some people nowadays theatres and cinemas are not important, because people can use online platforms for entertainment. However, other believe that cinemas and theatres are still important and economically and culturally.

To begin, those who believe that physical entertainment platforms like theatres and cinemas are no longer important, suggest that online platforms are more convinent and affordable. For instant, with the advancement of technology online platform like Netflix and Prime videos are more convinent and affordable. Because there is no need to watch movies in cinemas, people can enjoye their favourite content at home in fraction price as compared to tickets.

On the contrary, other say that cinemas and theatres are still important as they provide jobs to many and also contribute in economy which is beneficiat for any nation. Moreover, they holds history which represent the cultural of nations. To illustrate my point, many individuals are somehow connected with cinemas and doing there jobs like popcorn sellers, cleaners and operators in theatres and this also contribue in economy in form of taxes. In many nations cinemas and theatres are used to represent the culture with internal theme and decoration.

In conclusion, whearas, cinemas and theatre are losing the importance dur to internet they also contributr in economy and represent culture as mentioned previously. In my opinion, cinemas and theatres should be protected due to cultural and economical significant and it can also use as musum.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear opinion: online viewing is convenient and affordable, while cinemas and theatres provide employment and represent culture. These points are relevant, and the examples of streaming services and cinema workers help illustrate them. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The economic contribution is asserted through jobs and taxes but not explained in much detail, and the cultural point about “internal theme and decoration” is unclear. Your conclusion supports protecting these venues, but the suggestion that they could be used as a museum is introduced without explanation. Develop each main point with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation or a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin,” “On the contrary,” and “In conclusion” make the direction of the discussion easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “Because there is no need to watch movies in cinemas” is a fragment that interrupts the flow, while “as mentioned previously” adds little to the conclusion. The reference in “they holds history” is also unclear because “they” could refer to people or venues. Use linking phrases more selectively and connect each supporting sentence explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss entertainment, employment, and culture, including “online platforms,” “contribute in economy,” and “represent the culture.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision. Examples include “convinent,” “beneficiat,” “contribute in economy,” and “cultural of nations.” Some choices also make the meaning unclear, particularly “internal theme and decoration” and “economical significant.” Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise terms for the venues’ cultural role and economic impact would make your argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. There are, however, some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For instance, “Because there is no need to watch movies in cinemas” is a dependent clause used as a sentence, and “they holds history” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “a fraction price,” an article is missing, while the opening sentence also needs an article before “significant portion.” Some long sentences join ideas awkwardly, especially the final sentence of the second body paragraph. Practise checking each sentence for a complete main clause, correct subject–verb agreement, and appropriate articles; this will improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
