Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the digital age, the relevence of physical entertainment venues like theatres and cinemas is less important as people can watch entertainment online, while other believe it is still important as before. I agree with the statement that it is important for both economically and culturally.
Firstly, it is true that online platforms have reduced the necessity of cinemas. Services like netflix, Youtube and Amazon Prime allow people watch films and dramas from the comfort of their homes at lower cost. There is no need to buy expensive tickets or follow a fixed schedule. For Example, during COVID-19 most people shifted to online entertainment which was more convenient and accessible. Therefore, many argue that theatres have lost their importance.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas hold significantly cultural and economic value. Culturally, they provide a shared live experience that cannot be replicated online. Watching a big film on screen with audience or seeing a live theatre performance creates a sense of community. Economically, this industry creates million of jobs for actors, technicians and local businesses. In countries like tthe USA and India, the cinema industry contributes billions of dollars to the economy and promotes tourism. For instance, Hollywood and Bollywood attracts tourists fron around the world.
In conclusion, although online emtertainment is convient, it cannot repalce the unique experience and economic benefits provided by theatres and cinemas. They should be seen as cpmplementary rather than competitors. While digital entertainment offers convenience , theatres and cinemas are still important culturally for shared experience and economically for job creation and revenue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a clear position: online services offer convenience, but venues remain important for cultural and economic reasons. The examples of home viewing during COVID-19, employment, and tourism are relevant and help support the discussion. The cultural point about a shared experience is particularly clear. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that cinema industries promote tourism would be stronger with a brief explanation of how film locations or major productions attract visitors. The opposing view is also developed mainly through convenience and cost. To strengthen the response further, extend each main point with a specific consequence or example and make the comparison between online entertainment and physical venues more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the case for online entertainment, a paragraph supporting theatres and cinemas, and a conclusion. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the shifts between views clear. The conclusion also returns to your position and summarises the main contrast. Some linking is rather formulaic, and the final paragraph repeats points already made without adding much synthesis. Within the body paragraphs, develop clearer links between claims and their consequences—for instance, connect the jobs created by the industry to the economic benefit for local businesses. More varied transitions and precise referencing would make the progression feel smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital age,” “shared live experience,” “sense of community,” “local businesses,” and “contributes billions of dollars.” These phrases help communicate both cultural and economic arguments. There are also several spelling errors, including “relevence,” “emtertainment,” “convient,” and “repalce,” as well as inaccurate forms such as “million of jobs” and “attracts tourists.” Some collocations are awkward, notably “hold significantly cultural and economic value” and “watch entertainment online.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, such as “significant cultural value” and “watch films online,” to make your vocabulary more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in the opening and a concession in the conclusion (“although online entertainment is convenient…”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “allow people watch” needs an infinitive marker (“allow people to watch”), and “a big film on screen with audience” needs articles or a plural form. There are also agreement and number issues in “the cinema industry contributes” when referring to industries in two countries, and “Hollywood and Bollywood attracts.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly around sentence boundaries. Review verb agreement, articles, and infinitive patterns, then proofread each sentence for punctuation while continuing to use varied structures.
