Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You attempt to discuss both views and give an opinion, and your position that cinemas and theatres remain important is stated in “From my perspective” and “In my opinion.” You also include relevant points about socialising, relaxing, and watching films with family. However, the discussion is only minimally developed: the benefits of online entertainment are mentioned mainly through lack of time and money, while the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is not clearly explained. Some points are difficult to interpret, such as “students emotionally connected watching online,” and the final comment about movies affecting relationships is not supported. To strengthen the response, explain each side with a clear reason and a specific example, then make your own view consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is an attempt at an overall structure, with an opening, several supporting points, and a concluding statement. Some linking expressions, including “However,” “In my opinion,” and “In conclusion,” show an effort to guide the reader. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the response moves abruptly between online viewing, students, cost, meeting people, and weekend activities. Several sentences repeat the same point about visiting cinemas without showing how the ideas connect. The links between claims are also unclear, as in “So that, students emotionally connected watching online.” Organise the essay into separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and use clear topic sentences and references to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, such as “digital age,” “entertainment,” “cultures,” and “relaxing,” so the subject is recognisable. However, the vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, especially repeated references to “theatres and cinemas hall” and “people.” Several word choices or forms make meaning unclear, including “new realsea movies,” “electriconic devices,” “hung out,” and “relished.” There are also spelling errors that reduce clarity. Aim to use accurate, natural collocations and a wider range of terms for the two sides of the discussion, such as online streaming, ticket costs, shared experiences, and cultural events. Check spelling and word forms carefully, and avoid repeating the same phrase when a precise alternative is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, and the response includes some basic linking structures. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “theatres and cinemas are very important for young adults” followed by “theaters is very vital place,” where agreement and article use are inconsistent, and “A large number of people to decide make a plan,” which lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, particularly where clauses run together or commas and capitals are misplaced. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses using patterns such as “Although some people prefer streaming, cinemas offer…” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete verb forms during revision.
