Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believes that in the upcoming digital era movie theatres and cinemas will not be important, because everyone has access to the internet where every entertainment is available almost for free. Whereas some people argues that theatres and cinemas are not ment only for entertainment, they are also beneficial culturally and economically. In this essay i will be discussing both the views and also provide mhy opinion.

Yes, it is true that people have access to all the entertainment via online which can be used in all sorts of devices like phones, laptops, computers, and even projectors can be used to make a small theatre in a room. However, not all movies are directly available on the internet, initially many movies are released in the cinema and are not available in good quality until it reaches at a point or not until a month. Consequently, people who want to be first or who are waiting for so long can not wait anymore for the movie to available online, hence they end up in a theatre.

And yes, theatre and cinemas are not only ment for entertainment, although the only provide entertainment to the public, they also play an important role in making a country economically and culturally strong. For instance, a movie which is shoot in bollywood and released in different parts of the world, all the profit the movie makes bollywood will get some 20% of it. Similarly, a movie made in Japan has their culture shown in it, will be released all over the world, and people all around the globe will see the movie and got to know some part how Japenease culture. This is exactly how theatre and cinema contribute to economy and culture of a country.

In my opinion, cinema and theatre plays a big role in a country's economy and cultural development, as it expend it to every part of the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear opinion that cinemas contribute to economic and cultural development. The discussion of online access is relevant, and the point that films may not be available online immediately helps explain why some viewers still go to cinemas. Your examples of a Bollywood film reaching international audiences and a Japanese film sharing cultural elements also support the second view. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the online-entertainment argument is mainly about convenience and release timing, while the economic contribution is asserted rather than explained in detail. The claim that a film’s profits benefit Bollywood by “some 20%” is unclear and needs a more precise explanation or a better-supported example. Develop the reasoning behind each view more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on online entertainment, a paragraph on cinemas’ wider role, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main progression easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “However,” “Consequently,” and “For instance” to show relationships between ideas. At times, though, the connections feel mechanical or the references are unclear. For example, “And yes” is an informal, abrupt way to introduce the second view, and “it” in “as it expend it to every part of the world” does not clearly identify what is being expanded. The conclusion largely repeats the opinion without drawing the discussion together. Use more precise referencing and make the links between claims and examples explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the question, including “digital era,” “available online,” “economically,” “culturally,” and “contribute.” Some choices show an attempt to express specific ideas, such as “released in different parts of the world.” However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “ment” for “meant,” “Japenease” for “Japanese,” and “got to know some part” are examples. There is also repetition of “movie,” “theatre,” and “cinema,” while phrases such as “all the entertainment” and “big role” are broad. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms where appropriate, while checking spelling and choosing natural expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style explanation and clauses introduced by “although” and “which.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “Some people believes” should be “Some people believe,” and “theatre and cinemas … they also play” shifts between singular and plural subjects. In “a movie which is shoot,” the verb form is incorrect; “a movie that is shot” would be grammatical. The opening also contains a sentence fragment beginning “Whereas,” and the final sentence has an unclear structure. Work on maintaining consistent subjects and checking verb forms, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and clearly connected.
